Despite my busy schedule, I watched the Brannon v. Kennedy et al trial at the county courthouse today. The motion to dismiss the case was denied, and rightfully so.

It’s Okay to Disagree
I welcome debate. For example, over on HBO there is a great discussion about today’s KTEC levy. Many of those I would label left-wing seem opposed to the levy. That’s okay with me.
While I support the concept of KTEC, and welcome vocational education, I must applaud those in our community who have the courage to stand up and be against something. It doesn’t make them naysayers. It doesn’t mean that they are community outcasts or “against everything.” It means we have a healthy discussion for our community’s future, and such discussions must always include everyone.

State-Wide Urban Renewal Idiocy

The City of Caldwell, through its Urban Renewal Agency, has purchased and will be running a coffee shop. A commercial business, run by the government, competing with other local businesses.
So, tell me, how screwed up is urban renewal in Idaho?

Cute Story…kind of
Have you received your copy of the hospital’s magazine called “Kootenai Health”? This quarter’s edition features an article called “A Reason to Dance”. I love to dance and so does my husband, so I turned to that page and discovered a sweet story about an very mature couple who courted on the dance floor way back in 1938. Now, at age 88, Loryane, the wife, has just had a total hip replacement surgery at KMC and is doing very well. But, as a couple, they are now able to go dancing again!
My thought, as I read this wonderful love story, was what would happen under the new OBAMA CARE regulations? No way Loryane would get that expensive surgery at age 88. They would tell her she is too old to deserve that kind of investment, and others in the “system” deserve the “assets”. Lorayne and her hubbie would just have to tough it out until she dies…probably sooner than later.
Are you looking forward to all the FABULOUS benefits of Health Care for ALL?
PS–Did I mention that the current head of KMC, Joe Morris, told the CdA Rotary Club, last year, that he believes totally in Universal Health Care?

Urban Renewal to Intensify Lobbying Efforts
![]()
I guess it was about to happen sooner or later: Seeing the rising public anger and the increasing number of anti-URD bills in the Idaho State Legislature, Urban Renewal Agencies (URAs) around the state are banding together to form a massive lobbying effort in the 2011 legislative session. Their goal: To halt any reform demanded by citizens who recognize the failed efforts and outright corruption of urban renewal in Idaho.

More Irregularities at the County Elections Office

The official results for the 2006 East Side Highway District Election show that 2,070 people voted. The official database from the County Elections Office show that over 12,000 people voted. Even so, there are people in Kootenai County who claim that everything is just fine and dandy with County Clerk Dan English at the helm.

Why So Secret?

Theoretical situation: What would happen if an elderly elected official were suddenly ill and taken to the hospital? Would the city withhold the information? Would the local media be compliant?

LCDC Check Register Follies, Part Deux

A few weeks back, I posted an article on my first impressions of the LCDC’s check register. I’ve had more time, and many more eyeballs, looking at the thing. The result is this, the first of several posts describing some oddities in the register. Call it another stone in the path that I believe will eventually lead to the conclusion that what Tony Berns gave the CDA Press was not the real LCDC check register.
