Daylight Savings Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. Remember to set your clocks back one hour tonight. (“Spring forward, Fall back!”)
Don’t forget that you may have several electronic items that have embedded clocks. This includes digital cameras, digital voice and video recorders, personal computers, printers, fax machines, and cellular telephones. Some of these reset automatically, but many must be manually reset.

Some readers may have received a mailing or seen a flyer attributed to the Mike Kennedy campaign. The document, which looked like it had been designed for the Internal Revenue Service, made allegations about local businessman Vinny Zito (shown in the photo with candidate Jim Brannon). OpenCdA.com contacted Mr. Zito and obtained the document he prepared in response to the flyer’s allegations. Here is Mr. Zito’s response to the allegations in the flyer. The contents of the document attributed to the Kennedy Campaign are in bold blue type. Mr. Zito’s responses are in black type. [

Dear Newsletter Readers,
Our local CdA City Council election is more than “heating up”, it looks like something out of old-time New York politics—the intimidation from city hall is unbelievable! This morning’s Coeur d’Alene Press article by Maureen Dolan is headlined “Taxpayers sue NIC.” She reports that on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, north Idaho residents Larry Spencer, Tom Macy, and Bill McCrory filed a lawsuit in First District Court naming North Idaho College and the North Idaho College Foundation as Defendants. This matter relates to Article VIII, Section 3 of the Idaho Constitution. The Plaintiffs allege that the Defendants entered into a certain lease agreement in contravention of Article VIII, Section 3 of the Idaho Constitution and that the lease should be declared void by the Court. The factual allegations are included in this complaint filed with the Court. According to the Court Clerk, the case has been assigned to Judge Mitchell.
The Kootenai County Reagan Republicans have written a strong letter to Mayor Sandi Bloem, citing her “astonishing abuse of the powers” of her office. The letter, which is a response to this morning’s headlines, goes on to say:
Your statements in the Coeur d’Alene Press today and the intimidating words and actions of city employees demonstrate a caviler disdain for citizens’ rights of free expression and a willingness to use the legal power of the city to suppress political dissent.

From the Spokane gossip blog, today at about 6:00pm, Mike Kennedy is quoted as saying:
“I did knock on Jim’s campaign office to see if he would talk to me about the allegation of federal fraud that his campaign is distributing. He didn’t return two phone calls and an email, and though his car was there no one answered the door.”Councilman Mike Kennedy.
This would seem almost believable, unless one knows the facts. Then it’s obvious Mr. Kennedy is trying to cover his uncontrolled behavior. Here’s the actual course of events: (more…)

“It’s too soon”, LCDC Exec. Director Tony Berns says in this morning’s front page response to the BOMBSHELL from Post Falls yesterday, posted below. Post Falls urban renewal agency gave back $2.2 Million in excess property tax increment money to the city, county school district and more.
But our LCDC says No. They can’t give back, even though their districts are older, bigger and richer. They want to collect as much extra money as they can so THEY can decide what to do with it. After all, you and I are just dumb taxpayers, we don’t know how to spend our money for the good of their friends….oops, I mean for the good of the community!

[[He’s not talking about the City of Coeur d’Alene’s urban renewal agency, the LCDC. Once again, the City of Post [Falls has taken the lead.

Yesterday’s post titled Ignorance of the Law – SOP in CdA showed some images and played some audio excerpts from the August 4, 2009, Coeur d’Alene City Council meeting. Some of the best lines delivered in that entire meeting came from none other than our very own master of the perfectly timed retort, Mayor Sandi Bloem. (more…)
