Here We Have Idaho, Dude…

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 11:55 am

idaho plus potOur December 27, 2012, OpenCdA post titled But Not Up Here…  talked about the gangs who had promised they would not come to northern Idaho.  Commenter “kageman” reasonably asked, “But, how bad can the gang/drug activity be in North Idaho?”

That question has been at least partially answered in today’s Spokesman-Review article by Scott Maben.  His article is headlined Interstate 90 a major route for traffickers heading east.

Just another toke over the line…

  1. Theoretically, one could say that any city or town near any Interstate could be a potential hub for criminal drug running activity. I know,in North Idaho we have had a meth/drug problem in the small towns and more rural areas. One cause of this seems to be poverty;as ppl in these more outlying areas need another income source to make a living.

Now,we have the proponents for marijuana, making the case of legalizing it by advocating for: medical marijuana; for pain and eye issues. The concern one would have is this: Once you’ve set a precedent for the legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes; where does it stop? Or will there be groups trying to advocate for medicinal cocaine? etc.etc.

Some ppl proclaim that the so-called ‘war on drugs’ has been lost, so we just need to start legalizing and regulating some of these drugs to control the problem. Granted, legalizing some drugs would devalue them, but it still wouldn’t solve the problem that poverty plays in the drug trade.
