City Councilman Dan Gookin has called a Press Conference for tomorrow morning at 10:00am at the 3rd Street Boat Launch. He will speak about the upcoming city elections, particularly the position of Mayor. Please join us at the boat launch, which closes Saturday and will not open again until October.

I spoke with Dan Gookin concerning parking. He suggested the City Hall lot, then walk to the boat launch. He said parking on Sherman is limited. Best advice is probably to add extra time to get there, because the walk from parking may be farther.

DFO: I’m now hearing that Mary Souza is conducting some exploratory work for a possible run for mayor.
Consistent with what I posted on the ‘Brannon announces mayoral candidacy’ post below, should Mr. Gookin, or Mary, announce that he/she is running for mayor, there should not be any gnashing of teeth or claims that Mr. Brannon was the one that chose to ‘split the vote’. The quote attributed to Mr. Gookin seems to indicate that the prospect/potential of ‘splitting the vote’ and thereby allowing a Bloem clone to be elected mayor is of no concern to him.
