CRS Report: H.R. 1628 | The American Health Care Act

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 4:50 pm

CRS copyIt is a reasonable certainty that many, maybe most, of the members of Congress had not read H.R. 1628:  The Amereican Health Care Act in its entirety before it passed the US House of Representatives today.

For those OpenCdA readers who are interested in the Cliff’s Notes version of the Act, here is the Congressional Research Service’s 72-page summary of what most of the Capitol Hill Clowns didn’t read.  It was released today and is entitled H.R. 1628:  The American Health Care Act (AHCA).

  1. I skimmed through this, but found this article much easier. It confirmed what I thought I read in the 72-page summary .. Cuts the Medicaid program for low-income people and lets states impose work requirements on Medicaid recipients?? How is that going to work? Are they going to farm out all the old broke retirees to pick up trash and/or pick potatoes, here in Idaho? Then to get rid of the penalties, but allow insurance companies to charge a 30 percent surcharge if your insurance has lapsed over 63 days, instead? Not to mention no cap on health insurance costs for old people? Over the next five years, the states will get money from the feds to help cover their high risk pools … who is going to manage that money and decide who gets it?

I don’t find anything comforting about any of this government healthcare stuff — no matter what you call it. Sounds more like population control of aging baby boomers. Scary stuff. This is going to be pretty difficult stuff to cram down our throats while our government leaders sleep on the job and enjoy their own healthcare perks that we give them.

I am not a fan of any of it. It is horrible, all of it. They need to just scrap it … all of it. Convince me that any of it is decent? Well I guess, if you cannot find a job but need healthcare, Idaho will give you a mandatory work requirement.
