Starbucks Supports Black Lives Matter

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 3:24 pm

06-13-2020 Starbucks Tweet

On June 12, 2020, Starbucks Coffee announced that store partners would be allowed to wear apparel in support of Black Lives Matter.  The announcement was included in the tweet shown above, and the image is the one that will appear on the tee-shirts Starbucks is sending to its baristas.

OpenCdA wonders if Starbucks’ poobahs have read this article which appeared in the June 3, 2020, DailyMail online article entitled  EXCLUSIVE: ‘We prepare to stop these murders by any means necessary.’ Black Lives Matter leader declares war on police and group is ‘training our people to defend our communities’ in Black Panther style armed ‘patrols’.

This should make for some interesting discussion between the police officers who frequent Starbucks and the baristas who serve them coffee.

  1. Unfortunately, I doubt that the Starbuck’s poobahs are interested in reading articles but, rather, are interested in which direction the dollar appears to be blowing at the minute and how best to harness it. I suggest that, unfortunately, the extent of the majority of baristas’ knowledge is that they have been given T-shirts, that the T-shirts they look ‘cool’, and they are to wear the T-shirts. As to police who may continue to patronize Starbucks, I suggest that they would be wise to get their coffee elsewhere.

  2. Tributary,

Evidently the decision to appease the BLM movement was made faster than you can make instant coffee. Consequently, the spiffy new BLM attire is on order, not yet delivered. But never fear — Poobah Kevin has decreed that those who wish to wear improvised BLM attire of their own design may do so until the official shirts arrive. Wearing it will supposedly be voluntary, so it’s entirely possible we won’t see much of it in CdA. Spokane and the People’s Republic of Moscow/Pullman would be a different story.

  3. Tributary,

According to this letter to Starbucks partners from Poohbettes Roz, Rossann, and Zing, employees will “…receive additional operational guidance by Monday, June 15.” That may explain how the BLM attire must be worn in order to make everyone feel welcome at Starbucks.
