  1. There was a nasty story about me over on the Spokane gossip blog yesterday. It was very sad because, more damaging than trying to make me look bad, it besmirched the character of the Kootenai County Republicans.

The story is about how I attended a small luncheon for Kootenai Republican Women last Saturday. That’s true and I am a member of that group. The lies start when they say I spoke out against Deanna Goodlander, who was also present. I never said one single word to Deanna or about Deanna or about her campaign. I did not stand up to speak until AFTER Duane Rassmussen twisted statements about Dan Gookin, who is running for city council. Dan was not present. Duane R. was the only man in the room of a dozen women, and he came in late, after the lunch segment was over.

Duane stood up and tried to scandalize the group by despicably describing Dan Gookin as saying he wouldn’t want the letters GOP tattooed on his ass. I could not let that go unanswered without another viewpoint because I had been in the same meeting where Dan made that statement the week before. That meeting was just a small group of about 8 people that know each other very well. Duane R. had been relentlessly pushing Dan to formally label himself Republican but Dan balked at this insistence, and reminded Duane it is a non-partisan race. The controversial comment came when Dan asked Duane what it would take to prove to Duane he was conservative enough? Would I need to have GOP tattooed on my ass, he asked? Not the best choice of words, but certainly not the same image painted by Duane to the Republican Women.

Duane’s inappropriate comments at the luncheon created an awkward atmosphere in the room, and it was time for the gathering to end anyway, so everyone started leaving. I did not “stomp out of the room” as the gossip blog said. I was not the first to leave and I politely left after thanking the hostess and guest of honor.

Why would any Republican central committee officer spread untrue, negative stories and project unflattering images of the party on a gossip blog?

  2. Well, Mary – it’s just the way it is over at that “gossip” blog. I can remember the days when some of us left because the blog was inundated with porn links and what really surprized me is how many people in ranking positions in this area dismissed it as nothing. It was the price to pay for the particpation. I still have screen shots with influential names in this town next to some rather disgusting stuff. I used to complain about it but was mocked, so I kissed their a$$s – goodbye. Now that it is fixed, you still are greeted with the occasional horse/sex story and warped photo line contest. The condom master still likes a good spin on anything including horse sex and so does his audience.

  3. Wow – they are like so losing it “over there” at the gossip blog. Now, they are accusing me of fabricating the porn links – gee, the Spokesman and DFO need to learn the word “libel.”

  4. Just ignore them, Stebbijo, they are desperate. It’s not about you, it’s more of a weird reflection on them.

  5. I “blurk” over there and it never ceases to amaze me how the Cowle’s sock puppet so arrogantly calls out Mary for being biased towards certain candidates out of one side of his mouth, while fairly gushing with an adolescent-like lust about his Sandiness as he refers to the mayor. His passion for Mike Kennedy is not far behind that for the mayor. There surely is not anything unbiased or non-tainted over on that Spokane paper’s blog. It’s all orchestrated from the front offices over in Spokane and there are reasons behind all of it. The sad thing is how some naive players on the blog are being manipulated.
