Here’s a news flash: LCDC approved a $35,000 budget to hire a Public Relations firm. Our urban renewal agency is using taxpayer dollars for a PR consultant to help make the public like them. Our tax dollars at work!

  1. Should we do a public records request for the competitive biding that took place to win the $35,000 contract? No, wait. I believe they just hired PR firm Pac West. No bids. But we should trust the LCDC board; they know how to get the best bang for our tax buck. And they’ll spend the $35,000 to tell us how good of a job they’re doing. Wonderful. Hell, I would have taken the $35,000 just to shut up for four months. But that won’t fix the LCDC’s image, nor will the $35,000 worth of work that Pac West will do for them.

  3. Tony Berns is paid over $100,000. I’ve listened to his econ-babble and have been convinced that he is communicating exactly the way the LCDC Commissioners want him to communicate. To quote humorist Jim Boren: “When in charge, ponder. When in trouble, delegate. When in doubt, mumble.” If all else fails, obfuscate.

  4. Ahh…business as usual with LCDC. Berns is paid a 6 figure salary and he can’t figure out how to communicate?? My favorite all time Berns comments: “we take conflict of interest very seriously”. Umm…how about Dixie Reed being on the council and LCDC board and “decorating” at Riverstone. “We are accountable to the Mayor and the city council, that is accountability”.

What this “study” is really all about, is how to flim flam the public successfully. And the beat goes on. No honest men there. Diogenes continues the search.

  5. We just got a curious phone call at our house. It was a phone survey, from a Nevada (I think) company called B.R.something-or-other. They were calling to talk to a male over 18. Here’s the kicker–they were calling to ask about “Your satisfaction with local elected officials”! She told me the first few questions were general, then they ask how satisfied you are with your Mayor and City Council. Wow. That was fast. She said there were no questions about Urban Renewal.

  6. Interesting that they still don’t get it. They’re pointing fingers back at us, calling us names and trying to pigeonhole us as angry and extreme. Yet they continue to clam up. I offered to dialog after the election. They sat on the ball. I’m still open for dialog. Obviously they’re still circling the wagons and waxing hysterical about boogeymen on the outside. Incredible.

  7. “Money is the mother’s milk of politics.” –Jesse Unruh

The folks in government help their friends with mothers milk every day.

Bales is connected, one of the “in” people. Just like the folks on City Council. Look into their money links (Dixie’s “Inside Connections”, Mikey’s political “consulting fees” wkether for the Library bond or his recent stint not exactly working for CBNI, etc) and you will find a HUGE web of tax dollars being used to support the parasites who hang on to power because the average joe doesn’t know. They HATE the internet and the power of TRUTH and what that is doing to their dirty little secrets.

Good job on this much needed blog!
