Dixie Reid on the Appeals Board

So the Mayor is thinking of appointing Dixie Reid — former City Councilman and LCDC Board member, and owner of Dixie’s Inside Connection, a design company — to be on the City’s Personnel Appeals Board.

I wish all City personnel good luck in the fair and balanced appeals process.

  1. Wouldn’t you think that there might be one or more other citizens in Coeur d’Alene who have the requisite knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences to be far more qualified than Dixie “Inside Connection” Reid to help adjudicate personnel appeals? Then again, knowing how the Mayor and City Council like to stack the deck to assure the culture of intimidation is alive and well at City Hall, I would not be surprised to learn that there aren’t too many applicants who meet the City’s “exacting” standards.

I feel sorry for a grievant/appellant. Let’s hope the other members of the Personnel Appeals Board keep a close eye on Reid’s conduct.

  4. Someone mentioned a very scary possibility: If Dixie is appointed to this personnel board, would she have access to the personnel files? Oh my!

  5. Mary,

Her only access to personnel information regarding city employees and volunteers ought to be limited to that specific information necessary to adjudicate each formal action immediately in front of the Personnel Appeals Board. No, she should not have unrestricted and unregulated access to personnel information kept by the City. If I were anyone on whom the City legitimately kept a personnel record, I would be very upset to learn that a part-time volunteer citizen could have unrestricted access to that information.
