Illegal Voters in CdA!

Filed under: General — mary @ 7:31 am

Wow, finally the Press has the news I’ve been wondering about:  The headline on this morning’s Local Section reads “Three Charged with Voting Illegally” (I would link to the online version of this article, but it’s not there because they usually don’t post the Local section online.)

The three accused of voting illegally are Nancy White, Ronald Prior and Susan Harris.  They face up to six months in jail or $500 in fines if they are found guilty of this misdemeanor. The article details that Nancy White is scheduled to go to trial in March.  She has plead “not guilty”.  Prior and Harris don’t have a court date yet.

Open Session, Thursday

There are many things to talk about.

What’s on your mind?  Taxes?

Jobs?  Christmas?

I apologize, Ron

Filed under: General — mary @ 12:58 pm

I did not mean to call Ron Edinger dumb, because I don’t think he is.  What I meant to do was to point out that he often acts as if he does not understand something, when in reality he probably understands it very well.  I was commenting on Ron’s behavior last night as an elected official at the city council meeting, not as a person.  Here’s what I said:  (more…)

NOT Frivolous, Pay your own

Filed under: General — mary @ 4:56 pm

Kennedy wasn’t in court today.  Neither were the mayor or other council people.  The only one in attendance from city hall was Chief City Attorney Mike Gridley.  (you know, Mr. Shove it….)

There were two issues brought before the court:  (more…)

Kennedy Costs

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 7:14 am

My post on December 5 titled Kennedy’s Demand:  Pay Now or Pay Later disclosed Coeur d’Alene City Councilman Mike Kennedy’s demand that that taxpayers pay for his legal fees in the election contest lawsuit.  There was an earlier document on November 5, 2010, a memorandum of costs, filed with the court by Kennedy’s attorney Scott Reed .   It contains some additional very interesting details (teaser:  former Spokesman Review reporter Bill Morlin) about the costs Kennedy allegedly personally incurred in this case.

One particular item in the memorandum of costs that certainly caught my eye:  Item 3 on page 2 reads, “Service by Steve Reed,  AAYS of contempt pleadings upon William R. McCrory.  – $58.00.”  That must have been a particularly difficult process service.  I’m William L. McCrory.  William R. McCrory was my father.  He died July 22, 2002, and his ashes are interred at the Pines Cemetery in Spokane.

Coeur d’Alene City Councilman Mike Kennedy is demanding that Coeur d’Alene taxpayers cough up the money for the legal fees he voluntarily incurred during the election contest lawsuit of the November 3, 2009, city election.

The agenda for the Tuesday, December 7, 2010, Coeur d’Alene City Council meeting shows the Council plans to have a “Mike Kennedy Tort Claim Discussion” under Other Business.

This scheduled discussion will be a scripted and controlled vaudeville act.  (more…)

Mary Souza’s Newsletter

Mike Gridley

Dear Newsletter Readers,
I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful, as we who live in this beautiful part of the world and this land of the free have so much for which to be thankful. I am also giving thanks for the turnaround in the mid-term elections, both nationally and here at the local level.  More about that later.

But amidst the relief of the overall election results, there lurks an ever-growing aura of anger and audacity which is emanating from Coeur d’Alene’s city hall.    (more…)
