The City’s Pulse Newsletter

By Mary Souza, August 12, 2008

Kootenai County Jail officials and the CdA School District are forced to talk to the public, whether they want to or not.  They must convince us to vote for their levies or bond issues in order to fund any new buildings or major changes.  That’s how the system is designed to work.    (more…)

Public Process!

Filed under: General — mary @ 9:13 am

It’s all about the process.  That’s what we’ve been hammering on this site for months.  Critics don’t want to address the lack of public process by some of our elected officials, they just want to make personal attacks on those asking for clarity and responsibility.

I’m being accused, on a different blog site, of not offering solutions.  Here’s my answer:   (more…)

Open Session, Sunday

Ok, everyone’s probably watching the Olympics, so here’s a question:  Do you find it surprising that Pres. Bush is the first US Presdient to ever attend any Olympics outside our country?  Was that a good idea or not?

Any other ideas, comment or suggestions on this or other subjects?

On Air in 5…4…3…

At two of the four why-the-levy-failed forums, there were suggestions from audience members that SD 271 might have edited the recordings of the School Board meetings before they aired on Woody TV.  (more…)

City Budget Confusion

Filed under: General — mary @ 11:58 am

The Press article about the City budget workshop yesterday left more questions than answers.  Magically, the city will be able to afford most of the positions and amenities they stated last month they did not have the money fund.  (more…)

Big Heads and Red Flashing Lights

The City’s Pulse Newsletter By Mary Souza, August 5, 2008

It seems dishonorable the way information about the Educational Corridor has been controlled and withheld.  The public’s red warning lights are flashing.  So when the Master Plan and Financial Impact Study were finally unveiled last month, I hoped our wait for real answers was over.  (more…)

Open Session, Tuesday

Filed under: Open Session — mary @ 10:16 am

City  budget workshop and council meeting tonight (see Bill’s post below) and another beautiful CdA summer day in the making.

The subject of the appraisal on the DeArmond Mill came up today.  I recall NIC Trustee Judy Meyer saying at the NIC information forum way last May, I think it was, that the appraisal on the mill site would be completed very soon. We are now into August, and the appraisal has not surfaced. What’s the hang up? Is it not coming in at the price they want/need to justify the expenditure?

Any other comments, ideas, suggestions?
