…Is In The Details

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 8:10 am

One of the fascinating things about Adrian’s cartoons is the depth and detail of information he is able to put into them.  For example, the “Tiki Ticky Tacky” in his most recent cartoon looks remarkably similar to Boopsie’s Bunker in the Park.  What do you think?

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Forum on urban renewal last night.  The attendance was excellent and the CdA Inn was gracious about adding more tables.  Big crowd and fun evening.

Today’s weather seems like Winter’s fighting to hold on, but moments of Spring are breaking through…I hope Spring wins!  Lots of important international news, a whole plate of local issues, and of course, basketball…go Zags…, what’s on your mind this weekend?

Election Law Changes Proposed

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 11:15 am

[

The Idaho Secretary of State’s Office has proposed changes to Idaho’s election laws.  Many of these changes result from the election contest lawsuit challenging the November 2009 Coeur d’Alene City Council election.  That lawsuit is awaiting a hearing before the Idaho Supreme Court.

The legislation proposed yesterday (March 14, 2011) by Chief Deputy Secretary of State Tim Hurst is House Bill 275, numbered H0275.  The link is to the Idaho Legislature website.

Because the bill has just been introduced, there is still time for electors to study the proposal and submit your comments to your legislator.

Up To Its Old Tricks Again…

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 5:20 pm

The Coeur d’Alene School District 271 Board of Trustees looks as if it’s up to its old tricks again.  What we have here is an unwillingness to communicate.

After learning Lake City High School had allegedly played one of the City’s propaganda messages to a captive student audience on the school’s closed-circuit television system, I sent a request for information and public records to Superintendent Hazel Bauman on February 22, 2011.  I sought confirmation the message had been played and requested some particulars if it had.

Within the three-day deadline, I received the Board of Trustees’ reply signed by Lynn M. Towne, Clerk of the Board.  As noted in her reply letter, I should have received the official written response by March 10, 2011.  I haven’t received it.  Under the Idaho Public Records Law, if the reply was not received within ten days (by March 10, 2011), it is presumed to have been denied.  Am I surprised?  No.
