Last of My Parade Favorites

This last group of my favorite entries in the 2012 Independence Day Parade in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, has a decided heavy equipment bent.

Several local schools painted the blades on the City’s snowplows. Very imaginative!
This one was done by Project CDA.

This City snowplow blade was painted by Coeur d’Alene High School.

This City snowplow blade was painted by Lake City High School.

This City snowplow’s blade was painted by Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy.

I’m not a big fan of calling towed low-boy trailers “floats,” but this one done by Ironworkers Local 14 was so well done it deserves public recognition for originality and excellence.

Ironworkers Local 14 entry.

The Ironworkers Local 14 float and the pickup towing it were consistent with the Independence Day theme. They were original, simple, and fun. Good job!

The last parade entries were two extremely large industrial vehicles built by Ground Force Manufacturing of Post Falls, Idaho.

This photo of the Ground Force Manufacturing vehicle was taken from ground level at a distance of about 20 feet. These things are massive!

A tighter shot of one of Ground Force Manufacturing’s two vehicles in the parade. Wow!

The people holding the clipboards are the local folks who judged the parade this year.  Susie Snedaker (on the left) has been coordinating the parade judges for about 20 years.  It’s like herding cats…!

  1. … well everyone knows you cannot herd cats!

Thanks for the nice photos, Bill. And, thanks to Susie for making us judges.

I think next year, we should all wear black robes – at least for the photo shoot. 😉

  4. Really great pictures, thanks very much for showing all of them. Some of us do not get to see the parade in person, so this is a nice way to see some of the action.
