baltimore-mayor-sheila-dixon According to an article in the Baltimore Sun newspaper, Baltimore, MD, Mayor Sheila Dixon has been indicted and charged with 12 counts of felony theft, perjury, fraud and misconduct in office.  The charges against her are a result of several years of investigation, dating back to her time on the city council.  Though the investigation began federally, the 31-page indictment against her today was delivered by a Maryland state grand jury convened in the Baltimore Circuit Court.

  1. There seems to be a lot of this going around right now. I’m glad the authorities are more willing to take action. Did I hear someone say that the Pelosi family has ties to Baltimore’s Mayoral history as well?

  2. Maryland politics is as dirty as can be imagined. I first got introduced to it when Spiro Agnew was caught taking bribes as Baltimore County executive, then as Maryland governor, then as Nixon’s Vice President. He pled guilty to one charge and resigned in disgrace.

Then there was Governor Marvin Mandel.

Nancy Pelosi’s maiden name was D’Alesandro. Her father, Thomas D’Alesandro Jr., served as Baltimore’s mayor for 12 years after representing the city for five terms in Congress. Her brother, Thomas D’Alesandro III, also served as mayor of Baltimore.
