As we contemplate death, redemption and new life, what are your hopes for our community?

  1. New life on the council and the return of ethical behavior on the behalf of those representing the tax paying citizenry. Won’t happen until Bloem, Goodlander, McEvers and Pinnochio Kennedy are only a distant political memory. One can dream can’t they?

  2. In case anyone was wondering, Judge Luster’s 30 days runs out on Monday, not today. And even though the City had to have its ballot language to the County Clerk by today, the bond ballot could be withdrawn anytime before next Friday, April 5. So, if Luster approves the City’s petition for judicial confirmation before next Friday, there might be no vote on the City’s $36 million proposed poop plant.

  3. Two great belly laughs in todays Press. First, in the (so called) answer book, check out the description of McEuen Park. Then, read HM Sandis commentary on respectful behavior in council meetings. She who is the rudest, after Pinnochio Kennedy, pontificating on propriety and courtesy. Then there was Woody, he of the “upscale” vocabulary, adding his opinion. It only hurts when I laugh!

  4. What bothered me in the Press article about personal politics on the council is that they made it sound like everyone on the council is being rude, interrupting and calling names. That’s just not true. The sources of this poor behavior are City Attorney Mike Gridley, who was not even mentioned in the Press article, and Councilman Mike Kennedy. The Mayor is at the crux of it all because it’s her job, by law, to preside over the meetings.

  5. And you expected a balanced unbiased article Mary? Now that would be an Easter miracle.

It is unfortunate that these articles are not balanced. When the absurdity is as ludicrous as this (story) it simply fuels the need for rebutal. But truly, you must admit a lecture on courtesy from Bloem is great theater of the absurd.

  6. I hope the slant of this article does not foretell the style of reporting we will see for the School Board elections in May and the City elections in November.

  7. When the owners, publishers, editors, and many reporters of local and regional newspapers care only about controlling people and nothing about the overall welfare of the community and integrity of government officials, you are going to see them do whatever is necessary to maintain control over public officials who write checks and make decisions. So yes, this article is a tame example of the kind of inaccurate and incomplete reporting we will see.

Rather than reporting hard facts, the Coeur d’Alene Press “reporters” seem more interested in asking “How do you feel about your interpretation of what someone said about someone else.”
