Rumor

The Coeur d’Alene Press says it’s this.

The Boston Globe says it’s this.

People with too much time on their hands want to know.

The rest of us don’t really care.

  1. I just wonder why this ‘critical’ operation did not fall victim to sequestration? I guess I kinda fall into the ‘don’t really care’ category as to the story, but I also fall into the ‘want to know’ category as to why, if the Press’s story is true, it is being done at all in this time of forced frugality?

  2. up river,

What? You don’t think measuring the change of the earth’s magnetic field is worthy of a sequester exemption? Don’t you realize that the Cebu Flowerpecker’s migration from one end of Cebu Island to the other is heavily dependent on the earth’s magnetic field. Oh, the inhumanity…! State-mandated sensitivity training for you, mister or madam!

  3. Good point, Up River. Are they selling images to Google Earth or scanning for oil and natural gas deposits? Something’s odd.

  4. The first line of the bio page for Richard O. Hansen of PRJ is interesting. However, EDCON-PRJ is a legitimate contractor with USGS.
