You’re Kidding, Right?

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 11:26 am

DeerEyes copyThe Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has appointed corruption-fighting Deputy District Attorney Max Huntsman to be the County’s inspector general.   Huntsman’s marching orders give him independent authority to investigate numerous allegations leveled against the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.  Huntsman has a strong reputation for handling public corruption and police misconduct cases as a supervisor in the LA County DA’s Public Integrity Division.

OpenCdA can imagine what Kootenai County Prosecutor Barry McHugh’s response would be to that:  “What?  You expect Idaho’s county prosecuting attorneys to aggressively prosecute corrupt public officials and dirty cops?  You’re kidding, right?  We need them to get re-elected or elevated to the bench!”

  1. Realizing I might be a little slow but just which corrupt public officials and what dirty cops do you feel Mr. McHugh failed to prosecute in the past? Did Mr. McHugh offend someone when he tried to interject some common sense at the RR meeting?

  2. Mike Teague,

Self-realization and acknowledgement is always a good first step toward recovery.

As to your second question, I have no idea what you’re talking about.

  4. CC, in order to understand the vitriol against Mr. McHugh in the above post, I asked two simple questions, who did he fail to prosecute in the past that would make someone state he will fail to prosecute in the future. Then I asked did he offended someone when he spoke at the republican meeting (this was in the paper), as in did his speaking cause the doubt about his character?
What I got for the first question is an insult backed by no answer, what I got for the second question is the oh so common, I don’t know what your talking about. Then you pop in with another insult and try to interject Party into the thing, so now a third question, is this a party thing?

  5. Mike

As with this last city election there were FACTS posted on the blog of the local skewspaper about the holdings of a candidate. It was taken down even though it WAS fact based taken right from county records. Subsequently there were those that still defended the stakeholders and status quo.

Wasden, Ysursa, McHugh etc. from state to local all know which side their bread is buttered on. Those that were willing to shoot the messenger(s) and challengers in the last election, well, you get what you deserve. Higher taxes, uncontrolled Urban Renewal, self serving elected officials, no transparency, no responsibility, etc.

  6. I could be incorrect, but isn’t our prosecutor, Barry McHugh related to the LCDC and city auditing firm? No problem, there, tho – if he is, right?

  7. Mike Teague,

    1. The question you asked in comment 1 appeared to be unrelated to the parody comment I made in the post. My comment applied to more than one prosecutor (“…Idaho’s county prosecuting attorneys…”) and not one in particular. You may have wished I had made a specific allegation on which your question was predicated, but I didn’t. When for self-serving political reasons a cowardly prosecutor declines to prosecute one or more corrupt officials or bad cops, the fact remains that although they have not been formally accused and charged, they are still corrupt officials and dirty cops. The avoidance of prosecution is not absolution; it does not erase guilt, only official accountability.

    2. I have no idea what an RR meeting is. Based on your comment 4, I presume you were incorrectly referring to the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee meeting on Tuesday night. If so, I can’t answer your question because I was not there.

    Stebbijo,

I don’t know, but I don’t think so. He may have been related to one of the original partners.

  8. I’m with Mike on this one. Who did he fail to prosecute in the past that would make one think he will fail to prosecute in the future?
Pretty simple question considering the inferred allegation.

  9. Eric,

I have no control over what you may have inferred. What allegation exactly did you infer from my post?

In due course I will answer your question explicitly.

  10. Ok Bill, tell me what you inferred of this comment about the prosecuter’s office.

“OpenCdA can imagine what Kootenai County Prosecutor Barry McHugh’s response would be to that: “What? You expect Idaho’s county prosecuting attorneys to aggressively prosecute corrupt public officials and dirty cops? You’re kidding, right? We need them to get re-elected or elevated to the bench!”

So from this statement it was asked twice, what has been done in the past to assume the procecuter’s office hasn’t aggresivley prosecuted alledged currupt public officials and dirty cops that makes you think that they won’t in the future?
