Call it the vision thing. Every city should have one. Politicians love talking about them. The question is whether that vision, that written master plan required by the State, is actually followed or brutally ignored.
I’ve just re-reviewed the Coeur d’Alene Comprehensive Plan (2007-2027). There is nothing in it about a public safety facility in City Park or on Independence Point. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
- Have the Mayor and City Council abandoned the Comp Plan so soon after its submission? If not,
- Why did they lack the vision to include what they consider to be such a vital and necessary thing in that Comp Plan?
Yes, doubtless there is something more afoot with this deal than just public safety.
At tomorrow’s City Council Meeting (3/18), the idea will be presented, heads will nod, rubber stamps will stamp, and it will be approved. And the Comp Plan? Apparently it was just an exercise. Give everyone a gold star and continue on with business as usual.
ROLMAOOTF (or somthing like that) – OMG that is SO funny!

On second thought – it’s really not so funny.
What is alarming is the ‘priority use’ of funds managed by our city leaders.
Public safety was never a priority – flower baskets and a whole lot more has taken precedence.

The city recently approved the Parks Master Plan. I don’t recall any mention of dangerous conditions warranting a concrete bunker in city park or any other park. Why was it excluded from the master plan?
