Fraudian Slip?

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 1:05 pm
johnmartin-nic A public official commits a “Fraudian slip” (not to be confused with a “Freudian slip”) when he reveals how his agency sometimes appears to view its stewardship of the public’s money.  Speaking to the Idaho legislature’s Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee in Boise on Wednesday, North Idaho College Vice President for Community Relations John Martin was quoted by Associated Press writer Sarah D. Wire as saying:

We’re looking at those founders [of NIC] as our inspiration as how to do less with more.

No, you read it right.  That’s how it appeared on page A5 of the Coeur d’Alene Press article headlined “NIC touts budget experience.”

  1. HOW TO DO LESS WITH MORE ??

That should be some sort of NIC motto…foregone taxes to buy an overpriced piece of toxic land with a questionable appraisal. Yes, they’re doing much less with much, much more of our money. I like your new psycho-political word, Bill.

  3. But is it overpriced, Reagan? Is the appraisal questionable, Reagan?

  4. The mill site has been used as an industrial site for decades. It was where they made creosote for years. It will require a comprehensive clean-up, the kind that can be circumvented by staying out of the traditional banking-finance system where liability requires it, and keeping the deal with between private parties so the public cannot request verification.

  5. reagan,

And the lakes and rivers are not poluted. Did you know that the Spokane river is the FIFTH most poluted river in the United Stated? I foget the mans name that talked about it at an “UP BEAT” breakfast one morning a few years ago.

  7. the land is not toxic.

Apparently reagan knows more than Ed Morse who did the appraisal, and at least had the guts to admit that he didn’t know such things! Oh, that’s funny, reagan!

  8. “that’s funny, reagan!”

no, actually it is just true.

cc, thanks for the news bulletin on lakes and rivers, but what does that have to do with the mill site?

From the way you wrote this makes is seem that you did not know this about the rivers and lakes. So my question is, what make you sure that the mill site is also not contaminated?

The “good ole boyz” in the northwest have kept SO much hidden while advertising all over the world “welcome to paradise”. Yea a CONTAMINATED paradise.

Did you also know that fish and game recommends that you eat no more than one fish per month out of area lakes?

It is all about capitalism at ANY cost.

THAT is what it has to do with the mill site!

  10. Golly, reagan. Quickly contact Stimson and tell them how they can save the estimate $2M they’re spending right now to clean up the toxic mill site. Go knock yourself out, dude!

  11. reagan,

A confidential source of questionable reliability provided us with this audio file list of the chemicals believed to exist in the vicinity of NIC. Of course, we can’t vouch for the accuracy of this list.
