In testimony before the US Senate Judiciary Committee on Feburary 11, 2009, FBI Deputy Director John Pistole noted that the Bureau is recommitting a significant number of special agents to financial crimes investigations. The Bureau had transferred large numbers of agents from these investigations to counterterrorism shortly after 9-11-2001. Financial crimes investigations include various mortgage frauds. |
