The Blue Eagle

Filed under: General — mary @ 6:03 am

180px-newdealnra I must have missed this part of History class, or it was never included in the textbooks, because this is bizarre.  In our own nation, during FDR’s “New Deal” of 1933, we had price controls, work hour restraints and enforcement patrols.  Companies were not allowed to sell their goods for less than the set price, so as to eliminate “dangerous competition”.   The Supreme Court finally struck down the NRA (National Recovery Act) as unconstitutional in 1935.  If you want to read more about the Blue Eagle and FDR’s enormous program to control the nation, here are some interesting links:

Here’s the Wikipedia page on this topic:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Recovery_Act

This is one in favor of FDR’s methods:  http://www.archives.gov/education/lessons/fdr-fireside

This is an opinion against the Blue Eagle program:  http://www.fff.org/blog/jghblog2009-01-16.asp
