  1. I’m trying to come up with a name which, would represent the people who
    ARE FOR virtually everything.Ya’know
    the type,the socalled ‘progressives’
who think that everything that the city and LCDC do is progress.

Sometimes, it’s not good to meddle in something that don’t need fixing.

  3. The governor signed the open meeting law revision yesterday. Betsy Russell posted her testimony. I thought some of you might be interested in it.

  4. kageman,

The technique you’re proposing to use is called pigeonholing. It’s a technique of oversimplification, and it’s used to try and discredit thoughtful opposition and disagreement. For example, deceptive politicians love to apply labels of convenience to those to disagree with them. The disagreements are varied, and it requires thought and patience to address each disagreement. So it’s far easier to lump all those with disparate ideas and disagreements into one group identifiable by one label and voila! No critical thinking required. Of course the politician or public official who does this hopes and prays that the intended audience won’t be smart enough to catch on to the pigeonholing.

  7. Since this is open session, could someone explain to me why this bill is being “held at desk?”

that’s an easy one: you’re talking about the idaho house of representatives where no bill will be passed before a lobbyist has a chance to write it.

  9. Stebbio, re: post 7. Usually this means it is being held by the Speaker as hostage for a trade on a House bill that is stalled in the Senate. When it is time to move it, the bill in question will probably go the the Ways and Means Committee which the Speaker also controls. I don’t know for sure if that is the case here, however. There may be more to it. If any of our legislators are reading this blog, how about some enlightenment?

  11. Bill, I don’t really like pigeonholing or labeling groups of
people either, but I am sure your aware of the labeling some people do when mentioning this blogsite. Some socalled progressives have said that
some on this website are ‘Cavers’.So,
to me turnabout is fair play and maybe, we need to come up with a acronym which, adequately describes people who would seemingly rubber stamp anything that the city or LCDC does, without a seconds glance or even asking the tough questions.

I come on this blogsite because, I want accountability from our local officials and gov’t.Just because, you may oppose a certain development,
    or criticize something,certainly doesn’t make one a so-called Caver.It
is just a disengenuos term to try and discredit someone and to veer away from the issues being talked about.

  12. Gary and raygun,

Thanks for the answers. That disclosure bill is one of the best things done this session. Using it as a “hostage” has only cemented by belief that we are captives of Idaho and all suffer from the Stockholm Sydrome. It all makes sense now.

I like L.O.F.T – it’s better than calling them C.O.V.E. people – Corrupt On Virtually Everything.
