Open Session, Friday

Filed under: Open Session — mary @ 8:00 am

180px-yellow_daffodil_narcissus_closeup_3008px Summer inches closer.  Blackwell Island and Sander’s Beach return to the front page of the news, dredging up old memories of how those projects were (mis)handled.  And the people living on the East Side of CdA Lake have found a new development they can embrace…

Any comments, questions or ideas?

  1. Blackwell Island also dredges up heavy metals. Be careful downstream!

  2. “On May 1, 2003, Richard Perle advised, in a USA Today Op-Ed, “Relax, Celebrate Victory.” The same day, exactly six years ago, President Bush, dressed in a flight suit, landed on the deck of the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln and declared an end to major military operations in Iraq — with the now-infamous “Mission Accomplished” banner arrayed behind him in the war’s greatest photo op”

“When Bush’s jet landed on an aircraft carrier, American casualties stood at 139 killed and 542 wounded.”

  3. (Copied from elsewhere)

The other day I visited the bank to cash a check. When the clerk gave me my change, I checked it over.

She asked if anything was wrong.

“No,” I told her, “I look through change because you never know when you’ll find something good.”

I’m somewhat of an amateur coin collector. About 4 years ago, I got some change at the Video Theater movie rental place, and among my change were four 1943 steel pennies.

This morning I visited Safeway. In my change I noticed that one of the dimes looked different. When I got home I checked it over and it turns out that the clerk gave me a silver dime, dated 1963.

Memo to everyone: Check your change! There might be something good in there!

  4. Change would be good if it were the positive change we were promised instead of the same ole same ole just from the other side this time. 🙂

  5. Why are you surprised, CC? We just changed one soiled diaper for another. That’s still change, though!
