It sounds as if the Coeur d’Alene Mayor and City Council as well as the city’s urban renewal agency, the LCDC, will meet jointly with selected “stakeholders” on Tuesday, May 12. Amy Ferguson, City of Coeur d’Alene’s executive assistant, sent an email inviting several Midtown stakeholders to attend, “…for the purpose of sharing ideas and recommendations for minimizing the impact of the pending 4th Street reconstruction project .” Other members of the public may wish to attend and participate. No invitation is required for admission to a public meeting.
The complete invitation reads:
You are cordially invited to a meeting hosted by Mayor Sandi Bloem and Dell Hatch (Dell Hatch Design Studios) for the purpose of sharing ideas and recommendations for minimizing the impact of the pending 4th Street reconstruction project on your business and/or personal properties. Mayor Bloem and Mr. Hatch plan to share their experiences and insights gained from past reconstruction efforts, all in an attempt to help Midtown stakeholders best embrace the upcoming reconstruction period. This will be a great opportunity to hear sound advice, ask questions, and discuss issues of concern.
Meeting Date: Tuesday, May 12th
Meeting Time: 6:00 p.m.
Meeting Location: American Legion Post No. 14 (754 N. 4th Street in Midtown)
The email was sent specifically to the Mayor and each member of the City Council (except Edinger) and LCDC by name, so it is an effort to convene two public agencies with each having the potential for a quorum present. One of the purposes stated in the invitation is to share ideas and recommendations which the Council and LCDC will presumably consider in any decisions they make conerning the 4th Street reconstruction project. Based on these circumstances, this event constitutes a “meeting” as defined in the Idaho Open Meeting Law. At the time of this post, this event did not appear on either the City’s or the LCDC’s website event calendars.
Anyone in Kootenai County with an interest in how your tax dollars will be spent on the 4th Street project may want to attend.
Contact Amy Ferguson at Coeur d’Alene City Hall, telephone 208-666-5754, with any questions about the upcoming meeting.
It was reported in the Cd’A Press, this morning.
