  1. Thanks, Bill, for the reminder and links for directions.

There are suddenly lots of signs for the incumbents, which are illegally placed in the public right-of-ways along the streets. I’m not talking about a few misplaced signs–I’m seeing ALMOST ALL the signs in the wrong places. That’s not a mistake, it’s a plan.

In my zone, the signs are for the incumbent who is a minister. I heard that he and Edie, the other incumbent, were putting the signs out themselves, and that someone video taped it and told them, right then and there, that they were breaking the rules by putting the signs in the right-of-way. They just kept doing it. Doesn’t give me a good impression of them.

  2. For anyone who might not have read it in the Press, here’s the link to my column from last Friday that is on the subject of the current School Board and its accountability for the past management of the district:

  3. Remind me, was Eddie Brooks on the board when they decided not to spend the money to remodel Lakes Middle School after the 2002 levy? And was she on the board when they gave $800,000 to an architect for the new Lakes Middle School?

  4. I’m sure that our ever-vigilant city attorney will put the sign ordinance violations first on his to-do list — for Wednesday.

  5. Yes, Dan, Edie was on the board at that time. I believe she was on the board when my neighbor and I presented a map showing 70 registered sex offenders in close proximity to our neighborhood schools. If I remember correctly, the only comment was a request to keep the map. No one from the board or the district office bothered to contact either of us.
