  1. Interesting bio on Sgt. Wood, but I am curious. Is the police job part time? How many hours, ie. week/month whatever does
she get paid for while attending college full time?

  2. I agree, Yabetcha, and also wonder if the taxpayers are funding her college studies, via grants from the Police Dept.

  3. That’s one heck of a plate! How does Ms. Wood prioritize things? I mean, what are the ranks of her three listed public obligations? Which is first? Which is last? Which public obligation is getting the most from Ms. Wood, which the least?

Also, I believe she is a member of some organizations in town. I think she is serving on some candidate committee(s) for the upcoming primary election. More work, more obligations.

  4. There are Stakeholders, here in town, whom local leaders ask to be on committee after committee until I think they become Placeholders…people who can be counted on to vote with the status quo. Do we really have a shortage of decent people who are interested in the future of our area?

  5. Good point Mary, I know for a fact during the last city council election Mrs. Wood had yard signs for the two incumbents running for re-election as well as Dixie Reid’s self annointed successor, John Bruning. Status quo indeed. We don’t have a shortage of good people who want to be involved. The question is do those in power want to hear differing ideas? Unfortunately the answer is no. Ask around, you can find budget experts, urban renewal experts, affordable housing experts and maybe even dog park experts in our city. Why aren’t they engaged for input on commissions, boards or committees?

  6. Don’t forget that Mrs. Wood also has a vendor booth in Petal Pushers.
