Open Session, Tax Day

Filed under: Open Session — mary @ 2:03 pm

Is it fair at all that it is SNOWING on Tax Day? Really, haven’t we had enough? And now we have to send Uncle Sam all the money we could use to go somewhere warm and tropical, sit on the beach and sip on something sporting a little umbrella?

Here’s a repeat of the Beatles’ lyrics Tax Man:

Let me tell you how it will be;
There’s one for you, nineteen for me.
‘Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman…
If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street;
If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat;
If you get too cold, I’ll tax the heat;
If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet.
Taxman!
Ok, any positive thoughts? Any comments, questions or issues?

  3. one comment: how come nothing has been posted on here about the big tax mess up at the assessor’s office that might result in people having to pay more taxes this year because of mike mcdowell’s error in 2006?

  4. Good question! Mary asked me to look into it and I did speak with Todd Tondee, briefly. What I need to do is make an appointment with the “computer guy” at the county and see why/how they dropped the ball. I must add that I’m disappointed to see all the taxing districts’ greed over that sum. You don’t see them refunding money when they show a “profit.”

  5. my god dan do you really expect them to GIVE something back to the COMMON people? i’d say chances are it’ll go to something to make the GOLDEN JEWELS look better and give ADDED VALUE or is it VALUE ADDED?

  6. Dan, I asked you because of your extensive background in computers and technology. Your evaluation of the problem would be worlds better than mine. I think we’ve got to realize that what might seem like a small reduction of money for some taxing districts, really makes a big difference to their operation. There are 42 taxing entities, I think, that had their yearly allotments messed up.
