Open Session, Monday

Filed under: Open Session — mary @ 10:20 am

Another week, and a little new snow to tease us again. We’ve got the the big CdA school levy for $31.1 million on May 20th and, just to be confusing, the local primaries are one week later on May 27th. Also, the LCDC was at it again last week, paying $25,000 for a person to go into Midtown and gather information about affordable housing.

Any comments, questions or ideas?

  1. I am not a long time native/resident of CDA so I wonder just how is she going to do this – like what is the plan of attack? Is she going get folks at the door of Capones or what?

  3. I’m not sure either, Stebbijo. It’s interesting, though, that the person LCDC hired has NO background in affordable housing. She joined the Kootenai Perspectives open public gatherings last summer and was then appointed to their board. They changed their group name to North Idaho Housing Coalition and now she’s been hired by LCDC for $25,000 as a specialist to gather info from Midtown. In the course of just a few months, she’s gone from zero to expert on the affordable housing issue? I don’t thinks so. Oh, and there was no bidding process or even a call for applicants on this specialist position.

  4. I agree Mary. Isenberg may not have a background in affordable housing unless she has been on welfare or could not make the rent because she lost her TIMBER job, but I will bet dollars to donuts that she knows just how much wood it takes to build a house and what contracter will get that deal to build the structures and also where that crap chipwood plywood (OSB – Oreinted Strand Board) will come from. Nothing like tightening up the profit margin here. Like I said, what a crock of wood rot. Let’s watch how she spends her 25K for the greater good of this area.

  6. Google Lori Isenberg for a who’s who. A liberal do gooder.

  7. Lori is also the part-time executive director of the Idaho Housing Coalition. Surprise, surprise, surprise!

  8. Jon Ingalls presentation to the council and cast of thousands staff members at today’s sidewalk workshop was thorough. The issue will surface next at the General Services meeting in May where the public – not to be confused with stakeholders – will have an opportunity to address the issue.

  9. Hey, someone should have called me. I’d have gone to midtown for less than that and probably got real answers. Sheesh! Timing is everything.

  10. In this town it’s really who you know and how much loyalty you demonstrate. Timing is coincidental. 🙂

  11. I nod in agreement, Dan.

  12. Yep, but not only is it just “in this town” – this broad based nepotism is interconnected throughout the entire state of Idaho. It’s pretty bad – they stick so close together – its’ hard to infiltrate. These guys are totally capable of conspiring against the people.

P.S. I finally recieved a letter validating my record’s requst from Bonner County but only after I made a big stink – from Shelly Munson, Deputy Clerk. However, they ignored my request to correct a public record which is also part of I.C. 9-342. So I called them again and read it to them and she said she would have to contact their legal counsel. (I assume the county attorney)

I have yet to hear back from Senator Shawn Keough, who was going to contact the AG’s office, however maybe that is why I received that response from Munson to appease me?

Now get this – I just called Bonner County for the followup.

Steve Browning who is a financial auditor from Boise took my call. He was up there training and they just forwarded it to him, however he was very willing to help and answer by questions. He told me that my request was sent to a judge – Barbabara Buchanan via Marie Scott who said she decided not to rule and evidently denied the request. I don’t get it. When since are judges in the loop concerning records requests? That is ex parte communication and this behavior is acting out of the capacity of their position. What is going on? Do the clerks run up to the judges everytime they get a request to give them a heads up? This kind of hurts any future litigation on the requester’s part, ya think? No reply in writing just hearsay from Browning.

So, I called the Judicial Council and Hamlin is supposed to call me back/email me. We will see.
