One of our readers tipped us off to this unbelievable legislation which is to be offered by the House Democrats today. HR 1018 would provide $700 MILLION dollars for wild horses. According to the information on the web site of the outraged Republican Minority Leader in the House, this bill would:

Establish a horse census every two years;
-
Provide “enhanced contraception” and birth control for horses;
-
Make available an additional 19 million acres of public and private land for wild horses;
-
Cover $5 million tab to repair horse damage to land; and
-
Mandate that government bureaucrats perform home inspections before Americans can adopt horses
Please, can someone tell me—-are we in the Twilight Zone?

I cannot believe this shortsightedness! This is WONDERFUL use of federal funds. After all think of the under and unemployed cowboys that will soon be back at their careers. We NEED those cowboys in order to keep our 19th century perspectives in focus. Now at least 100 or maybe even 200 cowboys will once again ride the open range. I admit we’ll have to change their names to ‘horseboys’. No, no…. that’s not right either. To be politicly correct and acknowledging that a certain number of these range riders will be women they’ll need to be called something like ‘horse round-up persons’. That’s it, they’ll be forever known as 21st century Hrup’s and God bless em all and Representative Hastings, especially. Yahoo! It is a good thing money grows on trees.

I apologize to US Representative Doc Hastings of Washington State. In my original post, I mistakenly named him as the official leading the charge for the absurd $700 Million for Wild Horses. Doc Hastings is in fact leading the effort to bring the wasteful spending bill to the public’s attention. Thank You Rep. Hastings, for your common sense!
