What’s on your mind? NIC taking foregone and plowing ahead blindly toward purchasing the “Education Corridor?” Will the SD271 Levy Fail? Any candidate sightings? Let ‘er rip!

  1. Mic Armon stated in today’s newspaper article, that NIC was ENTITLED to the foregone. Hey Mic, I’m ENTITLED to know what plans are being made for the Education Corridor. Hey Mic, I’m ENTITLED to live in a place where I’m not taxed to death. Hey Mic, not everyone in Coeur d’Alene manages a brokerage office and has discretionary income they can throw around. Do we ever talk about education or is it all about projects and buildings? The tuition increase hurts the average person and compromises the affordable quality education NIC has traditionally provided. The article indicated that all of the Trustees were in concurrence with this action. If so, does that include Ron Visselmeyer? I never thought he would cave in to the pressure. When will we find out what the plans are for University Place? Never mind, Mic I’ll see if I can track down Christy Wood between one of her many civic obligations and I’m sure she will be forthcoming regarding the double secret plans. Your comments were condescending and arrogant. NIC needs trustees who recognize what a great gift a solid community college is for our region. We must keep the price of education affordable for all so that NIC can continue to change lives for the better. My thanks to Gary Ingram for raising some good questions.

  2. Mr. Amend, I am “entitled” to an valid estimate to remodel Lakes Middle School.

Ron Visselmeyer, I am “entitled” to an explanation of why I voted for you if you are just like the rest of the secretive trustees more interested in downtown financial interests and not affordable convenient education for our potential college community.

  3. Question regarding the Trustees for Areas 4 & 5 in SD 271-

I haven’t heard anything about them, their views for the district, what they support in regards to education in SD 271? Where can one find out about these candidates. The levy vote is May 20 and they are to be on the ballot.

I would like some input as to who they are and if they are having meetings or how to contact them?

  4. I plan a profile of the school district candidates soon, which you can read here on OpenCdA.

By the way, anyone notice the abundance of pro-Levy letters in the paper today? Can someone explain to me how buildings can be “for the kids?” I thought the priority of a school district was education, not construction. How come no one is talking about test scores?
