Thanks to OpenCdA correspondent “Ottawa Mike” for this photo and the suggestion we use it in a fun quiz. Here are the questions “Ottawa Mike” suggested was ask — just for fun:
1. Who is that smiling face?
2. Where is the photo taken?
3. Why is he smiling?
4. How long will it take the Coeur d’Alene City Attorney to claim the photo violates some obscure ordinance and demand it be removed?

  2. Is it Norm Semanko, chairman of the Idaho GOP?

    Comment by kageman — September 4, 2009 @ 6:22 pm

  3. kageman,

    No, but thanks for guessing.

    Comment by Bill — September 4, 2009 @ 7:21 pm

  4. Ok,Bill,It’s a younger Jim Brannon?
I matched up a recent photo of him.

    Comment by kageman — September 4, 2009 @ 9:29 pm

  5. kageman,

You’re correct — it is Jim Brannon. Where was the photo taken?

Second clue: Reflections on a general.

    Comment by Bill — September 5, 2009 @ 6:30 am

  6. It is Jim Brannon, at college with his picture in the dorm or frat window campaigning for something. My crystal ball now begins to fade.

    Comment by Gary Ingram — September 5, 2009 @ 8:43 am

  7. Gary,

You, too, are correct — up to a point. It is Jim Brannon. I’ve left enough information in the photo and provided two clues which should be enough to tip off the location.

    Comment by Bill — September 5, 2009 @ 9:53 am

  8. I know, I know, I know…..ok I won’t spill the beans.

  9. Second clue: Reflections on a general.

Is it near the old Fort Sherman area?
I think that’s a picture of an NIC
dorm room, with his picture.Did Brannon ever run for an NIC Trustee
    position?

  10. Since Bill must be busy and this is an easy one, I’ll jump in to say: Nope, try again.

  11. I vaguely remember this – but not well enough, so I will guess about the other photo (not Jim Brannon) … might be protected by Security Solutions, and this was a reflection of the city attorney at a bar?

  12. kageman,

re your #9: Right surname, wrong end of town. So no, it’s not a picture of a dorm room window, but it is a picture in a window. I do not believe Brannon ever ran for Trustee.

    stebbijo,

No, the reflection in the other window does help pin down the location, though. I think you’re remembering the picture of Gridley that appeared in a newspaper ad for a local resort restaurant. This isn’t at the same place.

Of course, Ottawa Mike told me where the picture is, so I drove by to get some clue ideas.

    Last clue: Double cross

    Comment by Bill — September 5, 2009 @ 4:34 pm

  13. It’s a wanted, dead or alive, poster in the sheriff’s Window at the Jail. His campaign is doomed.

    Comment by Gary Ingram — September 5, 2009 @ 6:53 pm

  14. This is grueling. Does it have anything to do with the Attorney General’s office?

    Comment by Stebbijo — September 5, 2009 @ 6:55 pm

  15. No, Gary, it’s not a wanted poster.

Stebbijo, I think you’re taking this waaaaay too seriously.

    Comment by Bill — September 5, 2009 @ 7:42 pm

  16. Jim was the “general” contractor for his fist Habitat for Humanity project. He’s smiling because of that and his colleagues took his picture and it’s hanging in the garage window. The other reflections are across the street; a car with a partial cover. It is still there somewhere at a 2004 address out in the east Sherman Avenue neighborhood. Neighbors don’t like it and have complained to the city to get it down.

  17. LOL.I can’t figure out where it is so i was pulling from your “serious” clues – reflections of a general – and double cross -thought maybe it was that restaurant
over by their offices. I would take a drive but I blew my knee out and this is the exercise I am getting right now. This is fun,you should do it again.
