There’s a brew-ha-ha going on in town right now, if you read the Press letters to the editor. Recently the Kootenai County Democrats sponsored a Healthcare Forum. They held it in the Community Room of the new CdA Library and video taped it for future broadcast. The forum featured the head of Kootenai Medical Center, a local family physician, the head of the Dirne Clinic and a local business owner. The moderator of the event was State Representative George Sayler, a Democrat from CdA. Most or all of the people on the panel were well known Democrats. The problem appears to be unfair access to put information on the city-controlled Public Access TV. The Healthforum folks said it was a non-partisan event…hmmm….ok. But here’s the rest of the story:
The Democrats get to put their forum on city TV. Yet, last year, the Kootenai County Republicans sponsored a Public Forum on Urban Renewal and had to pay for a conference room in a local hotel. They had a panel of State Senators, Representatives an NIC Trustee and local business leaders. They also said their event was non-partisan and asked to put an unedited tape of the event on City TV.
THEY WERE DENIED.
That seems to be the rub. Any one else have a clue on this?
Ever the more reason to demand more communication and transparency. Problem is while paying lip service to transparency, someone at city hall is on the other side of the glass covering it with blue paint. Maybe it’s time to ask again for the event to be aired on City TV. It’s still current news, a refresher for public benefit.

Add to the list a tea party march on the T.V. station….plus the newspapers.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed how shrill the CDA Press blog has become. Clearly hijacked by people who continually attack the messenger rather than address issues. More commonly known as Democrats.

Mainly one democrat…the former head of the local democrat organization who appears to have no other life than sitting on that blog dishing out dirt under numerous monikers.

The Spokeman Review never did report on the 1000 person Tea Party in CDA.
When I called the news desk to express my displeasure in their not reporting CdA news and particularly this event, the reporter informed me that they report on some CdA news. ( The Spokane Rally made the bottom of page 4)
Anyway, I suggested that I was considering cancelling my subscription due to lack Idaho news and the the bias of the paper. She informed me they are not bias, and she told me I should go ahead and cancel my subscription and abruptly hung up.
Can’t get the hubby to cancel. He likes the fishing reports.
It will be interesting to see how many Minnick events the paper will publish. They sure used a lot of ink to get him elected.
