When you go to Festa Italiana this weekend, go with a big appetite!
Do you like pasta and pastries as much as I do?
And chocolate! (I’d have been shot if I hadn’t bought some for my wife!)
What would an Italian festival be without wine?
Lots of other foods and beverages, too!
Some fine local entertainment!
Dan Gookin – Cooking Demonstration – Sunday, 11:30 a.m. (Didn’t know he’s an accomplished chef, too, did you?)
You thought I was kidding, didn’t you? His shrimp risoto was fabulous!
Enjoy being with people having a good time in Coeur d’Alene!
The only thing I miss about no longer working in Fantasyland-on-the-Potomac is not being able to get the great hoagies at Mangialardo’s in Southeast. I was first introduced to a Mangialardo’s hoagie in 1970 by Dominic “Pat” Perrone, whose jet black cloak lined with red felt won him the name “Count Provolone”. At the time, you could order a hoagie in one of three levels of spiciness: mild, medium, and this-is-gonna-make-your-hair-hurt. Thankfully, Pat bought “mediums” for everyone in our office. Hoagie runs to Mangialardo’s were a Friday ritual for us.

That looked like a great deal of fun and the price is right. I am just not ready for grape stopping, yet. However, my husband did really well yesterday on our 2 hr excursion to go grocery shopping after a month of my being holed up at home. I do think he misses my cooking.
There is only so much he can take, so I try to make it easy on him. 😉
I start physical therapy on Tues. and I am going back to work for half days in my transport chair this week – hopefully with some weight bearing. I am tired of being up “cripple creek” and for those of you that don’t know – I broke my leg when I went wolf hunting. I caught a pack of them napping and then they suddenly awoke and came after me. I don’t know why, I took precautions and even wore wolf scent. However, I tripped into a pot hole and injured my leg. Fortunately, my co-hunters saved me by dragging me off by the seat of my pants to the back of the pickup, while I continued to defend myself by shooting them all – while still on my a$$! 🙂

Stebbijo,
It was a lot of fun, and Dan’s shrimp risoto was really good. People lined up after his demo for samples.
Okay, now that wolf story sounded like a fishing story to me. You shot an entire pack of wolves? I mean, it’s a good story, but …! I hope that wolf scent isn’t anything like coyote urine. Anyway, heal quickly. Then stay out of the freakin’ woods!
