“It’s too soon”, LCDC Exec. Director Tony Berns says in this morning’s front page response to the BOMBSHELL from Post Falls yesterday, posted below. Post Falls urban renewal agency gave back $2.2 Million in excess property tax increment money to the city, county school district and more.
But our LCDC says No. They can’t give back, even though their districts are older, bigger and richer. They want to collect as much extra money as they can so THEY can decide what to do with it. After all, you and I are just dumb taxpayers, we don’t know how to spend our money for the good of their friends….oops, I mean for the good of the community!
“It’s too soon” translated to layman terms means:
“Hell no, no way, no how are we giving up OUR money”

Mr. Berns is the hired Executive Director for the LCDC, but he writes as though he was a board member. Assuming then that he speaks for the board on a topic that at the time of the writing was only a few hours old, and contains new information on their policies, the reader must assume the board had a meeting and told Mr. Berns what to say. But there is no way they could have had a meeting to make these decisions without violating the Open Meeting Law because the notice requirements in the law. Does he just make this stuff up and the board doesn’t care? Or did they discuss a response in an illegal serial phone loop?

lcdc will give money back to Kootenai County taxing districts right after Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny escort the Great Pumpkin to the 4th of July parade.

Look the CDA Czar, Master Berns knows he has a job only for so long as he toes the (dim) party line. Since he gets way more money in his current job than anything he can get elsewhere he sings off the Kennedy/Bloem sheet music.
