The CdA School levy failed to pass the voter’s approval test yesterday. The school district was asking for $31.1 million dollars and needed 55% approval to get it passed, but only 47% of the voters agreed. (Info from krem.com)
Here’s the update on the School Board Trustee elections. It was very close. Thanks to those who ran. I think the message was still strong.
TEA ANYONE?
The people have spoken!
Wouldn’t life be just grand if the mayor and city council would also listen?
Congrats!

Kudos to you, Mary, for being a part of getting the message out there. And the message was not “we hate kids” or “we hate taxes.” The message (that will be lost on others elsewhere) is that accountability matters. This levy was irresponsible and tacky. It needed to fail.

It’s all a bluff game. The School District asks for the sky,the first couple of times. Then they have to reduce the levy amount to get it passed. They need to be more fiscally
responsible.
Also, from the topic 2 days ago.I don’t think dirt bikes on Canfield Mtn.makes my uncle very happy.

Sadder testimony is this exercise was that these people were all advised well in advance what was wrong with their approach to getting this levy passed. It was lacking in factual support. It was too vague. It was another carte blanche levy.
But, these people chose to proceed anyway. Did they think the voters were too stupid to expect genuine information? Were they hoping to guilt the voters into approving this albatross levy? Instead of doing it right and getting the support from the community they flagrantly opted to proceed and chance failing themselves, the community and the students. And they failed.
Chalk it up to lack of intelligence, arrogance or just being mulishly stubborn. Whatever the reasons, it was a waste when you consider that all they were being begged to obtain and provide was some simple information. What fools, indeed.

wallypog says what i heard from some people “It was lacking in factual support. It was too vague.”. on the other point, the incumbents won reelection.
