Open Session, Tuesday

Filed under: Open Session — mary @ 8:20 pm

It’s almost Tuesday after a last week and weekend full of local news.  NIC fires its Workforce Training Chief, local business guy Adam Johnson is out of jail and all charges of shooting / attempted murder are dropped, Christie Woods is still the Police Dept Public Info Officer and NIC Trustee Chair.

Any comments, questions or ideas?

  1. Why can there be a Sergeant Cupcake and not a Weaselmeyer on this blog? Are women free game and men off limits?

Of course not, citizen.MikeK who sits on the city council is now being referred to as; Chicago Mike,
because of the beer and radio station controversy over the firings of two DJ’s, after Mike was a guest on their show.

  3. I honestly don’t like any of those depictions. It’s much more constructive to describe what you don’t like about someone’s behavior, than to lump it all under the label of a “name” and think that communicates your message.

  4. I am curious if the legislature is looking at the CDA city election and the process and who is taking a look, if anyone?

  5. I see Mary Souza and Dan Gookin made the 2010 Idaho Pork Report on page 61 – examples of government waste concerning the LCDC.

    It’s quite an eye opener.

Taxpayers also coughed up an excess of $900 thousand dollars for meals and food provided to state agencies. Over $6.6 million dollars in 40 thousand purchase card transactions were racked up by the Idaho State Health and Welfare – still being audited and we also paid for government funded filth. Seriously, I found the video but I can’t post it – it’s that bad. We gave almost 4 thousand dollars to Big Tree Arts who produced the filth on You Tube provided via Ben the Drunken Poet – Can’t Control Myself. Most of the language has been edited out of the Pork Report. Disgusting.

  6. You are so right, Stebbijo, the Idaho PORK REPORT is an eye-opener! Our readers can access it here: http://www.box.net/shared/0i69achs7d

The Idaho Freedom Foundation has been doing great work and I’d like to personally thank them for all their efforts. Cheers to you, Wayne & all!

  7. This weather is great! I mean, sure it’s overcast and drizzly, but man! In the 40s today. Sweet!

  8. I’d much rather have this weather than the non-stop snow of the past two years. This feels like Spring is just around the corner! (Ok, I know it will probably get cold and snowy later this month, but a girl can hope…)

  9. Well if we’re down to discussing the weather on this blog, may I share my thoughts about my first Idaho Winter in l962. I characterized it as three months of March, just as it is now. Winter is serious business in Minnesota. I lived in Walker, Minnesota just before the move and it was -36 degrees for about three weeks in January. I had chopped through 40″ of ice on Leech Lake so I could spear northern pike from my dark house. I had to chop 6″ each day during my lunch hour just to keep the hole open for the weekend of spear fishing. Winter ends quickly in Minnesota and March gets like it is here now. But I don’t miss it and I don’t like this either. That explains why I am so ornery this time of year, so politics is a good fit for me.

  11. Hey Mary,

As long as the same cabal is installed in the CDA council/lcdc/nic we get a snow job 24-7-365!

  12. Good one Will!!

I’ve never been censored here. Unlike many other sites, civility here is required. I don’t see that as censorship.

  13. It might be a positive thing: All those rail cars (I think there was a mile of them) seem to be gone from Riverstone and on up through to Hubbard. I figured that they’d go when the economy was picking up again, as rail shipments would be up. That’s just a guess though: The City is taking over that land, so B&N might have just moved the cars to be stored elsewhere. Let’s hope that they’re gone because they’re being used, not stored.
