Stebbi Jo: “thong man now has competition!”

Filed under: Open Session — mary @ 8:04 pm

If you want to get attention in CdA, just mention “thong man!” He was the legendary character who frequented city beaches dressed in only a thong, and I don’t mean on his feet.  Did you ever see him? What did the city ever do about Thong Man– Did they pass a law banning that style of swimwear, or did they let him go his own way?

Now Stebbijo is connecting thong man with some current city council folks…not an image I can appreciate.  What’s the most outrageous thing you’ve seen or heard lately in CdA?

  1. Well Mary, I think I just read it – here. Dan English confesses to not keeping a poll book – or records – of absentee voters – that is why folks had to go out and investigate – to gather the facts because nothing was accurate or for that matter -ever existed. Thong man pales in comparison to this – even without a thong or two.

Sorry Dan, I enjoyed meeting you and talking with you a few years back, but I feel that my vote has been sorely compromised and it was only something as simple as ‘common sense’ that would have upheld it’s integrity.

  2. Stebbijo, I agree that every improper vote takes away the right of a valid voter. This is THE most important issue in our community because if our elections can’t be trusted, the voice of the public can be silenced.

  3. Of course we have records, that’s not what you asked. I would put the validity, accuracy, and integrity of our election process and our staff and poll workers up against anyone’s. You asked why we don’t have a poll book in a situation where one doesn’t exist and isn’t intended to exist and I answered honestly, directly, and accurately.

Sorry, I guess I misjudged your actual intentions in asking me the question.

  4. Dan,
I do not get it why a “poll book” does not exist for absentee ballots. I don’t know where you get your explanation that you don’t have to keep poll books for “absentee precincts.”

I am really shocked because if accurate information existed, Brannon’s lawyer would not have to depose certain people – is my understanding.

With that said, I guess this is why this kind of thing has to end up in court and why the public is concerned about the integrity of their vote.

  5. Dan,
I would like to see some cooperation between Brannon’s lawyer and your office. If mistakes were made, let’s examine them in the light of day and correct the process. If no mistakes were made then the following question should be easy to answer. (If poll books are not used to tract absentee ballots, how does your office balance or track individual absentee ballots sent out with individual ballots returned?)

Court seems to be a very expense way to get the answer.
