Question to Ponder

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 9:39 am

Commenting on another post,  Ancientemplar observed:  “Looks like Rally Right has a working majority in the Kootenai Republican Central Committee.”

Here’s the question:  Based on what you know about Rally Right and assuming Ancientemplar’s observation is accurate, what changes do you expect to see in the future positions and performance by county elected officials including the prosecutor, the county sheriff, and the district court judges?

  1. I believe Rally Right to be an extremest group in the worst meaning of that word. We certainly do not need more of that kind of thinking. Any changes wrought by that group would be for the worse, not the better. If they do have a working majority in the Republican committee, woe be the electorate. I support the Tea Party as pro America as it is meant to be. Rally Right, bad news for democracy. I am a moderate republican for the most part. When the control falls too far off the grid, be it left or right, the situation is equally bad. I would hope that candidates who are concerned by this group would have the courage to stand against them. They can only control power over the electorate if we let them. There is a basis for the saying “moderation in all things”.

Rally Right is not in the best interest of America.

  2. rochereau,

So do you believe that our local officals will simply ignore them?

Maybe a better question would have been, “With Kootenai County voter turnout typically at or below 25%, does anyone really care who controls any party’s county central committee?”

  3. If caring about who controls any party’s county central committee is a result of a 25% voter turnout, I believe a more compelling question would be to ask if the 75% who could have voted but didn’t, really care about who controls our government.

As far as Rally Right goes, I know a lot of their members. They are most definitely conservative but not any more so than of lot of other Republicans who are not directly affiliated. They don’t like RINO’s, (Republican In Name Only). Their moniker should be, NACAI. (Not As Conservative As I).

  4. Gary,

That’s a very good point. Why is there so much indifference to who gets elected locally?

    Comment by Bill — May 29, 2010 @ 3:24 pm

  5. The problem with Rally Right is that it appears they think they own conservatism in Kootenai County. There is a litmus test and if you back a conservative not on the “chosen” list you are to be set aside in the trash heap. It is a power play and Rally Right wants to control the Republican Party with the help of the very nasty group called “Citizens for Action” run by Jeff Alltus.

I have heard that some Libertarians and Constitution Party members are pulling the strings. They can’t get elected as Libertarians so they invade the Republican Party.

I am extremely conservative, but a oppose power plays that tear apart my Repubican Party just when we need to pull together.

  6. Libertarians? Bah. That requires organization and coordination.

  7. I seem to have struck a tight chord amongst so “liberal” republicans that seem to think that you can play “touchy feely” and sing Kum-Bah-Yah with the left of this country. I think that the results of the elections of 2008 show that the left will “keep their boots on the throats of the moderates”. The conservative Republicans have watched this country’s moral and ethical pendulum swing to the left for 40 years and finally the ball has hit the wall. Its over. From digging for oil one mile deep in the ocean when it could be taken at ground level in South Dakota to being able to say a prayer of thanks in public, the reasonable adults of America say, “from cradle to the grave pensions to outrageous unfunded mandates, enough is enough.”
Personal freedoms and individual responsibilities are being replaced with the tunnel vision of the federal government and freemen will not stand for the deprivation. Individual citizens and thus the States’ governments will begin to reign in Washington D.C. and it professional politicians. It will come from the grass root organizations like the TEA Party and Rally Right that the citizens of the Great State of Idaho and the other (57?) states will bring back the virtues of the greatest country ever conceived by mankind over the history of the civilized world.
GOD Bless America and all it faults.
If you can’t handle it then “GO VOTE”. Elections have consequences!

  8. “extremest “?

    Hmmmm. What makes them “extremest”?

    Pro Second Amendment?
    Pro Life?
    States Rights?

“There is a basis for the saying “moderation in all things”.”

Really? Moderate tolerance for crime? Moderate tolerance for gun control?

  9. Ancientemplar: Your Rally Right and Citizens for Action backed a variety of people who do not fit your model. Take a look at the “family values” of some of your candidates and compare it with the candidates that were slandered by the “Hart Machine”. Time will show that there are lairs in your group of chosen saints. Perhaps you need to do some house cleaning.

I thought that the Rule of Law was an American value. Protecting illegal aliens, not paying taxes, slander, breaking Idaho hunting laws, putting local churches at risk of losing tax exempt status, and making false claims on campaign literature does not seem to fit in with the vision of our founding fathers.

I am called a right wing extremist and am proud of it. I am a “God, mother and apple pie” person. I will defend the constitution with my life. I would “drill baby drill”. I buy guns to protect myself from the disaster I see coming. I am for states’ rights. I am a Christian…BUT I will not blindly follow leaders who do not practice what they preach and point fingers at people who are not Christian enough.

Please do not destroy the Tea Party movement.

  10. Bill, I have never been able to figure the local politicians. Self serving pretty much covers it in general. Clearly, from my statements here, I would “hope” that they will ignore Rally Right. What I “think” they will do is whatever is in “their” best interest. Clearly, my opinion of politicians, in general, is very low. Not all, but most. I tend to agree with citizens comments above.

I think this weekend, it is particularly appropriate to ask whatever happened to the values demonstrated by “the greatest generation”. God Bless them all, both living and dead.

Pariah, you are a champion at taking things out of context or, perhaps, a lack of comprehension of the written word.

    Too true!

The “Greatest Generation” gave us the pill, no fault divorce and laid the groundwork for social liberalism, gee thanks guys.

  14. pariah you are truly offensive. Do you know what this weekend is? Do you care? “The greatest generation” fought and often died in WWII for the freedoms we seem to take for granted in this country. They didn’t run away to Canada, they didn’t burn the flag, when they received a draft notice, they went. They are the reason that you are able to spout the offensive drivel you have written above.

    Comment by rochereau — May 30, 2010 @ 12:39 pm

  15. Ditto to rochereau

    Comment by citizen — May 30, 2010 @ 1:54 pm

  16. Yawn. You want to elevate the WWII generation above all others, you go ahead. I honor those who served and who serve, I do not deify groups. I note you used your faux outrage to avoid answering the question I posed, I repeat for your benefit:

So go ahead, define the extremism. Please.
