Open Session, Labor Day

Filed under: Open Session — mary @ 9:23 am

Today’s holiday is in honor of workers.  But what about our JOBS problem?  Can government, nationally or locally, do anything to increase jobs?

Any other thoughts on this last holiday of the summer?

  1. The trial really is something. Years ago, then the Good Ol’ Boys had a firm grip on this own, it would have never seen the light of day. I know that some of Brannon’s supporters really want to see the Judge come down hard, but I’ve found him to be very factual and open. Also, I know the word anathema, and apparently so does Bill McCrory.

Tubob can be really funny, but DFO spends too much time laughing and not enough time noticing when Bob the Bully breaks out and leaves shards of glass all over the blog. If only the State of Washington could keep Bob busy…

  2. This thread being a “Labor Day” theme which wandered off into a detailed discussion on urban renewal, could be recaptured with the news today that Cuba will dismiss a half million state workers in the next few months and some how they will become free enterprisers or get left behind. Seems as though, finally, the chickens have come home to roost and communist theory of everyone on the public payroll doesn’t work in Cuba either.

As we watch local governments avoid layoffs and increase local taxes to support their bloated payrolls, while the enterprise sector of our economy is taking a dive, can one wonder whom is learning from whom?
