Sunday Evening Observation

Filed under: General — mary @ 8:09 pm

A reader just emailed me with some thoughts about education.  I agree that education doesn’t guarantee success, as the NIC consultants want to figure into their calculations.  We all know many folks who got a college degree but never applied themselves in life.    They often worked at a series of low-end jobs they could have obtained without their education.  Others didn’t go to college but went way beyond anyone’s expectations.  There are many influential people on the list of “never finished college”:  Bill Gates and Paul Allen, founders of Microsoft; Steve Jobs, founder of Apple Computers, Woody Allen, Director, Actor, Writer, Carl Bernstein, Washington Post journalist responsible for the Watergate reports, US President Harry Truman, Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Co., and Thomas Edison, inventor extraordinaire, and many more.

It’s not the education that makes the person, it’s what the person makes of their education that counts!  You can quote me on that one.–Mary
