Not Unique in Idaho

Filed under: General — Dan Gookin @ 4:23 pm

Here’s a quote for you:

How does a multi-million dollar project get started without any financial documents or agreements? And why aren’t these financials out for the public to review? Short answer is corrupt government.

Nope, it’s not the LCDC, but it’s here in Idaho. Read the article. Apparently we don’t just have an “urban renewal” problem up north.

  1. Wow. These statements: “Our city deciders have circumvented the public process once again.” and “They decide and we get to keep quiet and pay the bills.” These comments could be written about our town. In fact the whole thing is way to familiar. Is Caldwell learning from Boise, the same way CdA did?

  3. Casper, I was watching the news last night and caught a special about Obama. They spoke of Tony Rezko, who is a past Obama fundraiser and friend. Rezko had a real estate “redevelopment” company in Chicago, where he received huge government grants which sounded like urban renewal. But Tony Rezko was corrupt and has been indicted on Federal charges, to be sentenced in September.

So, large cities and small towns all face similar problems: public money used for private profit is wrong, and being granted large subsidies seems to increase the chances for corruption.
