Tubb’s & McEuen need…YOU!

McEuen Field

The City has announced that it will have an Open House discussion about the plans for McEuen Field’s renovation at 6 p.m. Thursday in Lake Coeur d’Alene Room of North Idaho College Student Union Building.  I hear that the Tubbs Hill Foundation members will be there, en masse, to interject their concerns.  Why?  Because the plans for McEuen Field now include Tubb’s Hill too!

The current plan is to build a handicapped accessible (ADA) pathway on the McEuen side of Tubbs.  They are also talking about installing a Zip Line there too (!..not for the physically challenged I’m guessing?)  and a viewing tower at the top of Tubbs.  There’s also some indication they may want to make the West entry trail on Tubbs, near the Resort, into a wide, smooth ADA pathway as well.  Many of us thought they were just going to mess with McEuen.  Nope, it looks like they want to have their way with Tubbs at the same time.  What do you think of these ideas?  Will you go to the meeting?

  1. It would be fun to decide what kind of zoo – maybe an exclusive animal zoo – only one type of animal and all the species in it – like a horse zoo with pony rides and mule race rides along with retired race horses ect. ect? An equestrian venture – That is such a good idea, someone will probably steal it from me. After all, we have Moscow University studies with the first cloned mule ect. I had no idea that the McEuen Team did not have a clue concerning the cost of their plan – I just know how ‘they’ think. There is not a doubt in my mind that this can happen. I want to be on your foundation Gary!! 🙂

  2. Steb – sounds like you’re try to steal it from me. But have at it. I don’t care who gets credit for Zooing first. I just want a Zoo to fulfill my dreams and, have others enjoy my vision. We’ve got a ground swell of support going. Let’s see, you, some of my relatives on Facebook, me, mebe Olli once he finds out. If only we can get others on board…Oh, BTW, lest my attempt at humor mislead, this is a serious proposal. Sure beats anything else proposed on the east end of the park and we don’t worry about cost at this stage, do we?

  4. Gary I’d rather have civility among so called adults than lack good judgment and common sense. Just a very few are turning this site into an HBO clone. Pity!

  5. I think we are going to have to look for a different parcel of land though – property that Gary was thinking about would make a nice casino or a small petting zoo. I thinking larger – bigger – . If the location was reconsidered maybe rochereau would jump on board?

  6. Nope, I changed my mind – Gary’s location is perfect. ZooBoise is 11 acres so ZooCDA would be just a little bit smaller – just right.

  7. In another place and time, in a kingdom not so far away, there was a bright and shining meadow, where rich and poor alike were welcome, each equal in their charity to the other, unidentifiable by their attire, yet common only in their pursuit of the glory of nature. Yea, encumbered not by those who would launch their boats at the lakeshore nor by hurried man afoot, with no membership to this place, nor cleated shoe required, no admittance to pay for those who would venture there.

It was a wonderful place and time.

  8. The Kroc Center?

No, wait: You said no admittance to pay. My bad.

  9. And then the Urban Renewal Agency appeared with avarice in abundance, said the green meadow was worth much more gold if covered with bright shiny objects, and it would greatly financially enrich an Urban Renewal Commissioner or two, the Mayor, and a local innkeeper. And lo, it came to pass that the beautiful green meadow took on the glaring neon visage of Seattle-on-the-Sound and Las Vegas-on-the-Sand. And it was renamed ClownTown. And the good and honest people departed for distant still-green meadows, while those who remained wallowed in the stench and wondered why the green meadows were gone. And they who remained became lonely and forlorn when they realized that the good and kindly folk had been attracted not by the bright shiny objects and noxious blue fumes but by the green meadows and the formerly blue water. But the Urban Renewal Agency Commissioners became gleeful, because as the village decayed under their watchful guidance and careful planning, they could declare it once again blighted. And their personal riches became renewed at the expense of those who lived happily in the green meadows.

  10. All this talk of a zoo. The city already HAS a zoo but it only has burros, hogs and asses in it. It is called city hall.
