Are You a Stakeholder?

Filed under: General — mary @ 4:13 pm

Your comments reminded me of this Jimmy Barona Cartoon from a couple of years ago.  Today’s list of “Stakeholders” would be different, but the idea remains the same.  Let’s hope Thursday’s meeting about McEuen Field is not like this.   Who do you think the main Stakeholders are for the park project?

  1. Mike K said this on a on a previous HBO thread. … and more. These guys sound like stateholders.

This is being vetted through all the appropriate city channels, as any idea like it should be (Parks and Rec, Gen. Svcs., involving interested parties like the Tubbs Hill Foundation). It was my initial understanding when I first heard about it that ROW was planning to allocate a portion of the money to Tubbs Hill maintenance, etc., maybe through the Tubbs Hill Foundation. Peter Grubb and Betsy Bowen of ROW are committed and proven conservationists, and I’m sure they’d be. very sensitive to protecting and preserving the area.

I’m open minded about it, we’ll hear what General Services Committee has to say and then if it comes to the Council we’ll talk it about it and see how it goes. I agree with Scott Cranston, though, that proper procedure would have to be followed and have an RFP process opened up for this sort of thing, even though I’ve never heard of anyone else considering the idea before. I agree that I would hope that folks like the Stickman and his lovely lady who have done so much to care for and protect Tubbs Hill would weigh in, too.

  2. Ada County/City of Boise has a similar “Steakholder Club.” It has been around for a very long time. It is called the Arid Club. Of course Ada County/City of Boise also had urban renewal districts decades before the concept ever caught on up here…in the “outback.” I guess (or at least I am told) that I should be glad to see that the Coeur d’Alene Steakholders (aka ‘visionaries’) are making an effort to keep up with the ‘Boys of Boise.’

  3. One would have to be thoroughly brain dead/flat line to believe that the cost for this absurdity remains unknown. Please, you mean to say that at least half million dollars has been spent on this…..uhhhhh concept and the cost remains unknown!!! That is what the paper said this morning. If that is so, then the company who presented the “conceptual plans” should be sued . No architectural or engineering company presents this kind of plan without a cost schedule. The absolutely last thing the CC or LCDC want floating around is cost.

And I wonder if the downtown business district has considered just how they will be disrupted during what will be a very drawn out construction period. Tear up the public parking, where do customers then park? On the street? Right, that works…..

The schools are, of necessity, floating another levy. Not enough money for education, but untold millions for this abomination. And the moronic, idiotic, brain dead voters will just roll over, again, as usual.
