Open Session, Memorial Day

Filed under: Open Session — mary @ 1:20 pm

Here’s what the President is doing today.  After laying a wreath and talking with some military families, he hit the golf course for the 70th time of his two-and-a-half year stay in the White House.  According to news reports, he has golfed the last nine weekends in a row, while two wars and whatever we’re calling Libya, are raging.

What’s on your schedule or your mind?

  1. President GW Bush at least had the courtesy to stop golfing early in his presidency, out of respect for the troops who were actively engaged.

  2. The weather gods actually smiled on CdA today! Wonderful park weather for the kick-off to the summer season (minus all the rain headed our way over the next two weeks).

    The decision to golf on Memorial Day invites comparison with President George W. Bush, who gave up the game early in his presidency and said he did it out of respect for the families of those killed in Iraq.

  4. Would you really expect something different from this person?

  5. Oh please, it’s certainly OK to poke at this president lets not forget Bush was a monkey with his own bag of tricks.
    Out of respect for our troops we should all give up every pleasure.

  6. Ok, discussion in my home tonight;
    Year books from high school came out. Senior pictures showed everything from tattoos, gauged ears, to boobs hanging out. I was explaining to my “children” that these people have not made their way in life yet and that because of their choices the rest of us could possibly be paying the taxes necessary to pay their way in the future because of their poor choices.
    Any thoughts?

  7. CC: I thought similar things looking at my son’s yearbook. I remember looking at my mom’s yearbook from 1956 (or whenever) and how “old” they all looked! Then again, they were no gauges or pierced lips in 1956.

  8. In 1956 I had a brand new 55 chev that I bought selling Cutco door to door and a pair of blue suede shoes, to boot. (pun intended)
