Our town is full and the sun is shining…the start of another Ironman weekend! (The lake water is only 55.8 degrees…brrr!) Did you see in the Press that Tubb’s Hill is listed as a nationally recognized hiking spot? Will you watch any parts of Ironman? What’s on your mind this weekend?

I live off of Government Way so we just hole up and don’t plan to go too far Ironman day.
It does not surprise me that Tubbs Hills is getting national mag attention, this whole area is geared toward the Destination Resort/Vacation Experience. People have swimming holes on Tubbs Hill, where they like to swim “nekkid” — Yes, they do! Tubbs Hill, however, is not “real” hiking, however, if those tourists think that is what it is, let them believe that, so they leave the rest of Idaho, alone.
I have some old photos from the first Ironman where we took our lawn chairs out and sat out on Government Way and cheered on the bikers. It was fun, until I realized I had suffered a VERY UGLY sunburn via those overcast skies. I mean, seriously bad sunburn – left blisters on my lips and the right side of my face,resulting in some now faded scars. It was even COLD out that particular day. Nothing like a free chemical peel, gone bad.
Now, we shop ahead of the game and stay home and barbeque and make all those bikers suffer from the smell of it. Pork Loin — on wood chips — for hours — time for a nice neighborhood block party in my mobile home park. All we need is Larry. 🙂 Calling him soon after the weekend, don’t want to miss out on any of his art!

We got up waaay too early to watch the swimmers start. It was a sunny morning without any wind, but was still chilly. I was so glad not to be getting in that water! The crowd of spectators was surprisingly big.
