Any Good Newspaper Reporters Left Here?

Filed under: Probable Cause — Tags: — Bill @ 10:06 am

My post titled Yes, Shame on You! was very critical of the owner, publisher, and editor of The Coeur d’Alene Press.  In response, commenter Justinian said, “… there are still some true newspapermen in the local papers and now and then they do what newspapers have done since Poor Richard’s day. At the end of the day, most inkstained reporters hate being lied to, manipulated or played the fool.”  I then asked Justinian, “Whom do you consider the good reporters to be at each of our two newspapers? What distinguishes them?”  You can read Justinian’s response here, but let me pose almost the same questions to other readers:

Whom do you consider the good reporters to be at the Coeur d’Alene Press and The Spokesman Review?  What distinguishes them?

  1. A good reporter, should one ever appear, would be one that writes articles based upon facts and lets the readers make up their minds. Editorials are for opinions, not ‘news’ articles. Whom? Dang, all that thinking…I need to go get another brew and see if that helps me come up with the name of ONE single solitary name………………………………………………nope.

  2. Also Joe, the facts, so called, should not have to be corrected in a subsequent edition. Unfortunately the CDA Press has a serious problem with accuracy in their reporting. If reading a story makes one feel uncomfortable with its veracity, continued patronage seems rather pointless.

  3. I think the CDA Press has some damned good photographers and I’ll leave it at that.

  4. Ancient, I agree Sean Gust is a great talent. I believe that David Cole is the best reporter for the Coeur d’Alene Press.

  5. I didn’t know where to put this but on your poll it is hard to choose because if it weren’t for the corruption, McEuen Field would not be one of the issues. I think they kinda go hand in hand.
