An event is happening (or has happened) in Europe today that some claimed would have destroyed the Earth. Oh, don’t you just love the alarmist media? Here is a link to my computer blog post for today, titled If You’re Reading This, Then The World Didn’t End.

“OUR LIVES, OUR FORTUNES, OUR SACRED HONOR”
It was a glorious morning. The sun was shining and the wind was from the southeast. Up especially early, a tall, bony, redheaded young Virginian found time to buy a new thermometer, for which he paid three pounds, fifteen shillings. He also bought gloves for Martha, his wife, who was ill at home.
Thomas Jefferson arrived early at the statehouse. The temperature was 72 and the horseflies weren’t nearly so bad at that hour. It was a lovely room, very large, with gleaming white walls. The chairs were comfortable. Facing the single door were two brass fireplaces, but they would not be used today. (more…)

………………….SALES TAX………GAS TAX (gal)…….CIGARETTE TAX (pack)…….SPIRIT TAX (gal)
Idaho: ……………6% ………………….0.25 …………………..0.57…………………………. 9.24 (more…)

Open Session, Weekend
I love Hoopfest! What a great weekend of good, clean, down & dirty streetball. It’s the largest 3 on 3 basketball tournament in the whole world, and it’s right next door in Spokane. There are 6,500 teams. 4 people per team, plus all their family and fans…it’s massive. And Coeur d’Alene is always well represented. (more…)

The “But For” Test
It’s an odd title for a test. Yet this simple two-word qualifier should be a required mantra for all urban renewal officials. “But For” should be embroidered on their shirts, emblazoned on their letterheads and engraved on their office walls. And officials should have to stand and repeat the “But For” test aloud at the beginning of every meeting. (more…)
