Coeur d’Alene, Idaho — Trespass and Vandalism

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 12:25 pm

Apparently Stop the Recall (“Decline to Sign”) had too many signs no one wanted, so they decided to deposit 12 of them in front of this recall supporter’s home near downtown Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. (more…)

Several people have contacted us and said when they now try to comment on Mary’s post titled County Press Release – Recall Election Violations, they instead see the message “Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.”

We did not close the “comment” section, so this is apparently a software problem that we will try to fix or at least identify and then explain.

ADDENDUM AT 08:32:  It was operator error — mine!  Our software has a setting that tells it to shut off comments after a set number of days.  I had it set to 14 days.  It’s open again for now, however we may decide to go back to the 14 day setting.  It should be possible for on-topic comments to be completed during that time.

“It Isn’t Logical”

[

After reading Secretary of State Ysursa’s letter dated May 1 in OpenCdA’s post titled Is He Believable?, commenter “Chouli” responded by saying of Ysursa’s letter, “It isn’t logical.”

“Chouli” is correct — Ysursa’s opinion is illogical.  It is also inconsistent with the way laws are written by citizen legislators.   It is also completely inconsistent with Ysursa’s testimony in a hearing before the House State Affairs Committee in 2004. (more…)

Open Session, Monday

Filed under: Open Session — mary @ 8:13 am

What happened to the CdA Press?  They’ve been suddenly quiet, keeping dramatic accusations off their front page during the last few days.  I wonder why?

Any other thoughts, questions or comments on this sunny Monday?

In Defense of Harry Thomas, Jr. …

Filed under: Probable Cause — Bill @ 7:22 am

Former District of Columbia City Councilman Harry L. Thomas, Jr. was sentenced to 38 months in the federal clink for one count of theft and filing a false federal tax return.

Somebody in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, needs to stand up and use Coeur d’Alene rationalizations to defend Harry Thomas’s conduct, and by golly, I’m going to do it!   Are you ready?

He did it for the children!  Look at all the good he was doing for them before he finally got caught stealing the money that was supposed to go to help them! (more…)

Recall CdA: Open M-F 10-6, Sat & Sun 10-4

Mary Souza’s Newsletter

We knew that this Recall process might trigger some push back; we were all aware of the big money and heavy political connections behind many of the power players. But I must say that the nastiness of those opposing this process is much worse than I ever imagined.

Currently there’s a secret recording from an unattributed source being published by the Press as legitimate news. There’s a former city councilman who came into the Recall office trying to get damaging information on our efforts. There have been constant attempts by the media to discredit the Recall effort. And there was a recent mass mailing of a Decline letter, chock full of misinformation.  (more…)

Is He Believable?

The More-or-Less Press news/views/skews online posting on May 2 titled County drops suit, wants petitions by June 11 indicated that Secretary of State Ben Ysursa’s letter of May 1 to City Clerk Susan Weathers and County Clerk Cliff Hayes had played an important role in the County’s decision to dismiss its petition for declaratory relief.

In his May 1, 2012, letter, Ysursa stated that his determination [now] is that Recall CdA has some unspecified amount of time but clearly fewer than 75 days to gather valid signatures on its recall petitions. (more…)

Does Ysursa’s Opinion Really Matter?

According to this morning’s article in the More-or-Less Press, the CdA Ministry of Disinformation has persuaded Secretary of State Ben Ysursa to help them defeat the effort by a large number of Coeur d’Alene citizens to recall Coeur d’Alene Mayor Sandi Bloem, Council President Mike Kennedy, Councilman Woody McEvers, and Councilman Deanna Goodlander.

The MinDis induced the Secretary of State Ben Ysursa to sign a very official-looking and -sounding letter in which he suggests that he and no other should be considered the supreme and final authority on the interpretation of the state’s election laws. (more…)

Open Session, May Day!

Filed under: Open Session — mary @ 8:07 am

Happy May Day to you all!  May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii, and there’s a cute song that goes with it.  We could use some flowers and Spring time weather here too.

What’s on your mind this first day of May, as the Primary elections get closer and the Recall CdA effort gets more, shall we say “interesting”?  The City & the newspaper are up to new antics every day!

Your thoughts on any local events or issues?…
