What’s going on with this sign in City Park?
I’m having a personal flashback. In 1976, I was a brand new nurse and everyone in the hospital was encouraged/required to get a Swine Flu Vaccination because we were in contact with the public. Of course, we did. Two days later I was sick, seriously sick. I was admitted to the hospital and put in respiratory isolation for several days. I recovered without further incident and never sued the government like so many other people did at the time. But I’ve not been allowed to get flu shots since. Now I’m wondering…do I have some resistance to the swine flu, since maybe I had some form of it? Or am I more at risk? Are you worried about this current outbreak?
Here’s some history of President Ford’s 1976 decision to “hurry up” the development of the swine flu shot: (more…)

Earth Day Symbol
One of our astute readers sent me this information about the very first Earth Day back in 1970. Predictions from that first Earth Day might surprise you. Take a look:
Denis Hayes, the chief organizer for the first Earth Day, wrote, “It is already too late to avoid mass starvation.”
Senator Gaylord Nelson, the founder of Earth Day, stated, “Dr. S. Dillon Ripley, secretary of the Smithsonian Institute, believes that in 25 years, somewhere between 75 and 80 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct.” (more…)

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho “Tea Party” April 15, 2009
(This is the excellent speech Brent gave yesterday–well worth the review!–Mary)
We the people.
We are generations bound by an eternal dream; we are blood of their blood, flesh
of their flesh, our forefathers who formed a more perfect union, realizing that we
the people are endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights.
The Tea Party was an inspiring event. More than a thousand people! The security folks said it was more like 1,300-1,500. Here are some photos:

Charlie Nipp, LCDC
LCDC and the CdA City Council met last Thursday evening for a planning session. They are talking about McEuen Field again, after many years on the back burner. McEuen has a long and emotional history in this town, of which many newcomers may not be aware. Anytime anyone anywhere says anything about McEuen Field, invisible red lights and silent alarms go off all over town. This is the crown jewel and the citizens will come out in droves to protect it! Cincinnati Tea Party, March 2009
There have been Tea Parties going on across the country for months, but the BIG date is April 15th. I found some photos of the tea parties that have already taken place, and was surprised at the huge turnout. Here’s just a sampling: (more…)
