Seems quiet around here this week. Summer is threatening to slip away early, so maybe everyone’s grabbing moments while they can. Good idea.

It takes guts to stand tall in front of an angry crowd; to be the target of frustrations and accusations. New Superintendent of CdA Schools, Hazel Bauman, has done just that recently. Four times. She has not only survived these experiences, she may have kick-started one of the most positive chain reactions this community has ever witnessed. At least I hope so. (more…)
NIC Community Relations VP Kent Propst is moving on. I’ve enjoyed chatting with Kent and discussing various aspects of NIC and Coeur d’Alene. I see him as a good man, but one who’s been put in a tight position recently with the Education Corridor.
I wish Kent the best with his new position.
Both Spokane County and Kootenai County need larger jail facilities. Here’s the documentation that Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich and Kootenai County Sheriff Rocky Watson have posted online to help inform their respective jurisdiction’s voters. (more…)

Sailing into another week. An interesting article on the front page of the Press reports there’s no sign of a downturn in the economy of downtown CdA. That’s surprising! My real estate friends have certainly felt a change and many other small businesses in town say they have also. What do you hear?
